It’s “Heroes V Aliens” In New Promo For The Flash

Following tonight’s episode of Supergirl that served as a prologue for the big DC TV crossover event, The CW released a brand new trailer for tomorrow night’s offering of The Flash that will officially kick off “Heroes v Aliens.”

In it, we see a central focus placed on Barry Allen, which is understandable considering that it’s his show. What deserves a closer look, however, is that the Dominators have some of those very heroes we’ve been looking forward to seeing join forces under mind control, effectively complicating matters right out of the gate. Suffice it to say, we’re being given a look at just how formidable these invaders truly are.

15 Greatest Robots In Movie History Gallery 1 of 16

Click to skip R2-D2 - Star Wars

Who's the greatest movie robot of all-time? It's a tough call, but you would be hard-pressed to not choose Star Wars' most endearing creation - that bleeping, brave-hearted blue tin can that is R2-D2.

T-800 - The Terminator

He's either an emotionless assassin or a heroic bodyguard, but either way, Arnold Schwarzenegger is the coolest robot ever in the Terminator films (well, at least the first two).

He also launched a handful of catchphrases into popular culture, something that not many others on this list can claim to have done.

Iron Giant - The Iron Giant

Despite being designed as an alien war machine, the big-hearted Iron Giant really just wants to be a hero.

Brad Bird's animated classic will have you welling up over the fate of a hunk of metal, and you'll »

3% Season 1 Review

3%, Netflix’s futuristic sci-fi thriller in which countless twenty-year-olds undergo a ruthless elimination process in hopes of becoming part of an elite few with access to their holy land, appears destined to remain in viewers’ queues unfinished or unwatched.

Adapted from creator Pedro Aguilera’s made-for-tv movie of the same name, 3% is Netflix’s first entirely Brazilian production, and no doubt a byproduct of the streaming service’s success with the crime drama Narcos. The eight-episode first season, looking to capitalize on its timely themes and painfully deliberate diversity, showcases a wealth of well-intentioned observations and opinions on modern society and governing bodies. And yet, the series ultimately fails to produce the compelling, compassionate, bone-deep commentary its setup could elicit.

In a not-too-distant dystopian future, the show opens as some combination of overpopulation and lack of a sustainable food and/or water supply have led to slum-like living conditions for all. »

Daisy Comforts Gabe In This New Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Clip

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns from its brief hiatus with a brand new episode tomorrow night, and following the first Simmons-centric clip from a few days back, ABC has released another sneak peek from “Deals with Our Devils.” This time, the focus is placed on Daisy as she attempts to comfort Gabriel Reyes following the disappearance of his brother.

The lad is understandably not in the best of places after discovering that not only is his brother Robbie possessed by a mass-murdering Spirit of Vengeance, but that his Uncle Eli is a megalomaniacal madman bent on world domination. These sort of things do tend to dampen one’s day a little.

Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy Explains Why The Star Wars Saga Still Hasn’t Hired A Female Filmmaker

In recent years, moviegoers have made it clear that they would like to see just as much diversity behind the camera as in front of it. Unfortunately, it’s been slow going, and while we’ll get to see Patty JenkinsWonder Woman this coming summer, big budget blockbusters remain a type of film that are seemingly dominated by white, male directors.

We know that Marvel Studios is actively seeking a woman to direct Captain Marvel, and with Disney and Lucasfilm now releasing yearly Star Wars movies, they’re surely going to hire a woman to take the helm of an upcoming instalment, right? Well, maybe not.

During a recent interview, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that while they want to bring a female filmmaker on board, they’re biding the time in order to find a director with the right level of experience.

Kanye West Suffering From “Extreme Paranoia,” Still Not Stable

Kanye West‘s mental breakdown continues to worsen today, as multiple outlets report that he’s still being held in hospital after last week’s incident and is now suffering from “extreme paranoia.” According to TMZ, the rapper was supposed to be released today, but doctors have continued to hold him for observation, stating that he still isn’t stable enough to go home.

If you recall, West first entered the hospital last week after experiencing “temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration.” The breakdown followed hot on the heels of the cancellation of the remainder of his Saint Pablo tour, which saw the artist exhibiting unusual behavior such as abruptly ending one of this shows after calling out Beyoncé and Jay Z, among others.

Of course, West has never been one to play by the rules, and over the past several years it really has seemed like the »

There May Be A Good Reason Why We Still Haven’t Had That Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars Spinoff

Ever since it became clear that Disney and Lucasfilm would be releasing standalone Star Wars Anthology movies, fans have been demanding that Ewan McGregor return to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi for his own solo outing, one which would fill in some of the gaps in his life between the prequel and original trilogies.

We’re getting Rogue One: A Star Wars Story next month, and adventures for Han Solo and Boba Fett over the next few years, but there’s still no sign of a movie for the beloved Jedi Knight. However, there may very well be a good reason for that if Entertainment Weekly reporter Anthony Breznican is to be believed.

Apparently, the reason Lucasfilm isn’t pushing forward with a spinoff is because the main Star Wars Saga may still have plans for the character which could later factor into his movie when it does eventually happen. »

Kevin Smith: An Animated Adaptation Of Superman Lives “Would Be Fun To See”

Although it may be some time until the next live action solo Superman film gets here in the form of Man of Steel 2, it never hurts to think about which stories could be adapted to animation in the meantime. While that honor usually goes to comics such as The Death of Superman or All-Star Superman, we can now cross our fingers in hopes that a canned script will soon get similar treatment.

In a recent Facebook Q & A, filmmaker and lifelong lover of comics Kevin Smith was asked if he would like to see his ill-fated Superman Lives script resurrected as an animated film, and here’s what he had to say:

“Oh like based on my script, based on the Superman Lives script? That would be tight, dude. I’m not going to lie, that would be fun to see. That’s something I worked on 20 years ago at this point, »

Evolution Review

Evolution is *visually* stunning. A cinematic bite of nautical opulence that dances under the midnight glow of inquisitive genre exploration. Writer/Director Lucile Hadzihalilovic boasts a healthy dose of creative curiosity by pushing artistic boundaries, never conforming to narrative structures that have blueprinted so many films before. There’s zero hand-holding here, as a much larger story is ignored to pose a smaller, more contained sci-fi conundrum. This might drive some audiences mad, but others will bask in the renegade nature of a film unbeholden to rigid architecture – for better or worse.

Hadzihalilovic takes us to a small coastal town where we meet a boy named Nicholas (Max Brebant) and his undefined community. He lives with his mother, and there are seemingly no men to be found. All the boys his age are whisked away to hospital rooms, where they’re given an injection and monitored. At night, all the mothers congregate without their kin. »

Westworld Will Answer (Almost) All Of Your Questions With Super-Sized Finale

Not to be outdone by The Walking Dead, HBO has confirmed that Sunday’s Westworld finale, “The Bicameral Mind,” will run for a super-sized 90 minutes.

Evan Rachel Wood, who plays long-time Host Dolores, confirmed the extended runtime via Twitter, before Entertainment Weekly hosted an interview with series showrunners Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan ahead of Sunday’s hotly-anticipated curtain call. With a second season already in the cards, one which will feature Ed Harris’ ominous Man in Black, both Joy and Nolan warned rampant fans not to expect “The Bicameral Mind” to doll out all the answers. Rest assured though that there will still be plenty of resolutions come Sunday, but the real kicker (read: what happens next?) will naturally be shelved until Westworld season 2.

Get Your First Fleeting Peek At Game Of Thrones Season 7

See Full Gallery Here

Now barrelling down on its season finale, Westworld is very much the HBO series garnering the most buzz – and deservedly so – as budding fans hunker down for Sunday’s 90-minute finale. A second season is already in the cards for Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan’s sprawling epic, but if 2017 belongs to one HBO show, it’s Game of Thrones.

Currently deep in production ahead of its penultimate season on the airwaves, we now have our first fleeting glimpse of season 7 – and the extended Stark family in particular – thanks to Watchers on the Wall. Pulling screencaps from HBO’s “Coming in 2017” promo that aired alongside last night’s episode of Westworld, the three images spotlight Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) riding horseback.

Though it’s difficult to wean much from these sombre stills, it does appear that Jon »

Rogue One Featurette Storms The Beaches Of Scarif, New TV Spot Teases Return Of Another Iconic Villain

Another day, another Rogue One media dump to peruse. On this particular occasion, Disney and Lucasfilm have lifted the lid on not one, but two enticing promos for the Gareth Edwards-directed pic, with the second TV spot teasing the return of another iconic Star Wars villain – and no, we’re not referring to the rasping Darth Vader.

First and foremost, and in the interest of keeping spoilers at bay, let’s focus on the all-new featurette. Entitled “Living in Star Wars,” the footage up above largely revolves around Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) as he spearheads the Rebel fight on Scarif, the tropical planet on which much of Edwards’ anthology movie appears to take place. Andor, a chief Alliance Intelligence officer, is one of Rogue One‘s key players alongside Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso, and we even get to see shots of those two heroes going undercover to infiltrate the Empire and, »

10 Cloverfield Lane’s Dan Trachtenberg May Conjure Up Harry Houdini Film

Much like the master illusionist on which the feature film is based, Lionsgate’s Harry Houdini movie has been a difficult butterfly to pin. Through time, we’ve seen the likes of Johnny Depp and director Dean Parisot come attached to the project, only for plans to unravel before any tangible progress could be made.

But the show must go on, with Deadline reporting that Dan Trachtenberg has entered talks to helm the Houdini pic, one to be based on The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America’s First Superhero by William Kalush and Larry Sloman. Little is known about the embryonic feature, only that it holds a script from Noah Oppenheim and will seemingly shed new light on the elusive Harry Houdini, who was described as “not just the master of magic, but as an adventurer and investigator of the occult.” Frank Marshall and Bruce Cohen (American Beauty) will produce. »

Looks Like Bd Wong Could Make An Appearance In Jurassic World 2

Dr. Henry Wu is a character that needs no introduction to fans of the Jurassic Park series, given Bd Wong’s chief geneticist has had his meddling hands in dino creation since the park first swung open its mighty doors all the way back in ’93. In fact, even after the calamitous InGen incident, Wu returned to Isla Nublar once more in time for the grand opening of Jurassic World, and with it came the induction of the island’s most formidable creation yet: the Indominus Rex.

Much to the surprise of no one, history essentially repeated itself in Colin Trevorrow’s 2015 blockbuster, but thanks to his scheming with Vincent D’Onofrio’s head of InGen, Wong’s character walked away from that disaster largely unscathed, and with a collection of stolen embryos to boot. Can we expect that lingering story strand to be explored through Jurassic World 2? It certainly seems so, »

Daniel Bruhl And Luke Evans Join The Alienist Series

Luke Evans and Golden Globe nominee Daniel Bruhl have joined the cast of the upcoming TNT drama series The Alienist, taking two of the lead roles. The show, which received a straight to series order from the network, is based upon the bestselling novel of the same name by Caleb Carr, and has cycled through a number of casting options and director hires, before seeming to settle into making some progress toward production.

Originally slated to helmed by Cary Fukunaga (True Detective), the show will now be directed by Jakob Verbruggen (House of Cards, Black Mirror), with Fukunaga serving as co-producer. Cary Fukunaga reportedly also worked on the script, along with Hossein Amini (Drive).

It is, essentially, a police procedural with a twist in that it’s set in the New York City of 1896 – at the forefront of technological innovation, and the development of early psychological and forensic profiling. Theodore Roosevelt »

Post-Apocalyptic Thriller Chaos Walking Eyes Tom Holland

Peter Parker himself, Tom Holland, is circling a role in Chaos Walking, the post-apocalyptic thriller in the works from Lionsgate and director Doug Liman.

Negotiations are ongoing, according to The Hollywood Reporter, though it’s understood Holland is in contention to join The Force Awakens breakout Daisy Ridley, who came attached to the gestating adaptation some months ago. Lifted from Patrick Ness’ bestseller, Chaos Walking takes place in a world in which all women have been wiped out by an aggressive virus, one that also lends the remaining male survivors with the ability to hear one another’s thoughts via a stream of consciousness called Noise.

Should a deal fall into place, Tom Holland would play the part of Todd Hewitt, the only boy in a town of men. Eager to put some distance between himself and the cacophony, Todd sets off into New World with only his loyal dog for company, »

Niall Horan Says One Direction Will Be Back

Considering that the One Direction guys are all busy in new endeavors, it makes sense that they probably aren’t always in the mood to talk about the future of their band. However, that doesn’t mean that they aren’t thinking about it. Ex-member and current solo artist, Niall Horan, was quite candid recently about the possibility of One Direction coming back, and his response will get any fan excited.

Speaking with Sunday People, Horan says that One Direction “will be back” and that they would “be silly not to.” He adds that everyone is doing their own thing, and that the group is going to be fine. Horan is in the midst of promoting his new single “This Town,” while Liam Payne and Harry Styles are both signed to a record deal despite no new music yet. Meanwhile, Louis Tomlinson is working behind the scenes in a more »

Chappie Director Neill Blomkamp Plays Down Talk Of Sequel

For those holding onto any semblance of hope that Neill Blomkamp would get the gang back together for a Chappie sequel, we have some bad news; responding to one fan’s onslaught of questions about a potential follow-up, the South African filmmaker stated in no uncertain terms that Chappie 2 is essentially off the table.

First spotted by the folks at /Film, Blomkamp posted a screenshot to Twitter, revealing that over Thanksgiving weekend his inbox became inundated with requests for Chappie 2. Whether these are the musings of one very, very devoted fan or simply a prankster/troll berating the director on a whim, the verdict remains clear:

The xx Premiere Music Video For “On Hold”

The xx have been in full-on promotion mode for their upcoming record, I See You. Between performing new music on Saturday Night Live, to supporting their recent single, “On Hold,” fans of the band have really been benefiting from the recent influx. Today, we get the next part in the indie-pop group’s album cycle: the music video for “On Hold.”

Taking place in the rural Marfa, Texas, the video shows what high school life there is like – mixing in love, parties, and everything in between. The clip, which was directed by British photographer Alasdair McLellan, falls in line quite nicely with the artistic direction that you usually see in The xx videos. While “On Hold” doesn’t do anything crazy different here, its familiarity is enough to cement it as yet another solid addition to their videography.
