Barney Miller and Firefly star Ron Glass died of respiratory failure at age 71 on Friday, his rep confirmed to Variety. Following the news, fans and former co-stars alike were quick to take to social media to remember the longtime film and television actor.
“He got there with grace, humor & enormous heart,” Firefly creator Joss Whedon tweeted, alongside a video of Glass’ first appearance in the pilot of the cult favorite sci-fi series. “He was, among so many other things, my Shepherd. Raise, appropriately, a glass. Rest, Ron.”
Whedon also shared a tweet with information about donating to the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center, an after-school and college readiness program in Los Angeles that Glass worked closely with during his lifetime.
