Now Casting: NYC Production of ‘Sight Unseen’ and More Great Jobs

Today’s casting notices include opportunities in the powerful stage drama “Sight Unseen,” which first premiered Off-Broadway in 1992 before bowing on Broadway in 2004. Additionally, we have three more gigs, all of which are on-camera and all of which are wonderful. Start your week off right and see if there’s a job for you below! “Sight Unseen”Both union and nonunion actors are sought for two leading and two supporting roles in New Light Theater Project and Access Theater’s upcoming production of “Sight Unseen.” The play, by Donald Margulies, examines the “unanswerable question of anti-Semitism...the sadness of lost love, the role of the artist and the location of the human soul at the end of a ragged century.” A run is slated for Feb. 8–Feb. 25, 2017 at the Access Theater in New York City.  “Forgotten Country”Two leading and a supporting role are needed for “Forgotten Country,” a student film for Columbia University. »

Huppert, ‘Moonlight,’ ‘La La Land’ Honored by Nyfcc and Lafca

The 2016 film awards season is shaping up to be one for the ages. As the year draws to a close, contenders are hailing from unexpected places and an obvious frontrunner has yet to emerge. With this past week’s announcements of two prominent groups of critics on either coast, it’s safe to call Barry Jenkins’ “Moonlight,” Kenneth Lonergan’s “Manchester by the Sea,” and Damien Chazelle’s “La La Land” the films to beat. The New York Film Critics Circle (Nyfcc), comprised of journalists from several wide-ranging arts publications and founded in 1935, named “La La Land” the year’s best picture. The original movie musical from Lionsgate was not recognized for its two leading performances by Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling or in any other categories. A24’s “Moonlight,” however, took home the Circle’s honors for best director, best supporting actor Mahershala Ali, and best cinematographer James Laxton. »

Atlanta Now Casting: Superhero Series ‘Ivacain’ and More Gigs

Atlanta talent is needed for several lead, supporting, background, and day player roles in the third episode of “Ivacain,” a scripted superhero series following a “dispirited teenager who acquires an evil power.”  Male and female actors of all ages are sought for a variety of roles including Commander Jarvis Adwul, Sub-Commander Heidi Nouva, and Isaac Quess, “a dead individual whose body is still very much alive.” Auditions will be held Jan. 7 and 8, 2017, with production tentatively slated for March 2017.
