Watch at the 1 minute mark. It shows Steve Jobs extolling the virtues of a machine you can connect anything too. These days then, it's seems Apple are all about taking away anything you might need ... Oh how Steve must be turning in his grave as today's Apple says screw you to its customers!!!

I remember discussion (not on the net though, wasn't there) about apple dropping the floppy discs... CD only, how would you be able to survive...

Even so, so what? I don't want a bunch of fv#$ing dongles to have to carry around with me all over the country every time I shoot on location. No more Macbooks for me.

Apple makes products for Starbucks-bound housewives, not creative professionals.

One of the frustrating things about humanity is that Apple will continue to find buyers for their product, regardless how they milk their customers or detached ignorance of their needs.

As long as it is "cool" to own an Apple product, they will sell it to those in need of that.

Logically, upping the price of the MBP by 200 USD, dropping all current port standards except for the headphone, requiring the "Pro" customer to hang a set of expensive dongle on each USB-C port just to get SD/USB/ext HDD/HDMI connectivity should result in raising a finger to Apple and boycotting.

And that status bar thing is a joke compared to the added functionality of a touchscreen - and even that isn't even included in the 200USD raise.

During my last encounter with an Ipad I learned that NO you can't quickly share pictures from your camera or another smartphone over bluetooth with an Apple product.

of course fixing the crappy keyboard is not going to be possible.

I may consider Microsoft notebook as my future computer, one factor stops me from doing so is the vulnerability to viruses. Are there any MS Surface users who know if a surface book comes with a built-in anti virus program, I don't mean third party or trial version, I mean something like Apple does that will take care of it and you don't have to spend extra money to get an anti virus program.

I have been a long time Mac and iPhone user. The funny thing is Apple fans are not blind, this new macbook pro is anti-human (yes!) from design to pricing. Apple's statement of sd-card port makes the laptop clumsy is in itself a clumsy statement while adding to the mockery they try to sell us even more clumsy adaptors!
I find myself slowly liking the very best Android phones (S7 etc) and Windows laptops (XPS etc). Though at the moment I'm happy with my iPhone 6s and the old iMac i have, I will need to upgrade them sometime in the future, and there are very good android and windows alternatives out there.

This is much much more worst than oil blobs and bright orbs on the sensor.

I'm not a mac user, but I wouldn't think that this is just a case of mac users not being happy about the cost of adapters, it's about the loss of the convenience of having these standard ports built it - it is a pain when you have a laptop (regardless of it being Mac or PC) being used with 'bits' hanging from wires attached to it.

Apple's definition of 'Pro':
"Purchase Rate Overdrive"

Still a ripoff. Putting them to "normal retail" prices, instead of "price gouging" prices -- when they should be bundled at barely anything above "wholesale" on the computer itself.

I went on Macrumours earlier, out of interest, because I know whatever Apple do, their loyal isheep will follow. Thing is, I don't think I've ever seen so many complaints about Apple!

For me, my 3ghz i7 iMac seems to get slower and slower with every new OS update - not that I wanted to update; but Apple forced me to when I bought a new iPod touch as it was only compatible with their new crappy OS! The OS on the iPod was also so bad, I sold it for £100, loosing a cool £129 in 2 weeks ... But I didn't care ... The latest iTunes has to be the biggest pile of crap ever written.

My iPad is also getting slower and slower; and as for my phone; well, I switch to Samsung a long while back and never looked back!

Apple is heading for a hard fall; and you know what, I have no pity ... Their arrogance and inability to bring good new products to the table, at good prices, and listen to their customers is shocking!

If Apple somehow manages to sell this thing in record numbers, then all of this complaining is redundant. In the end, selling units is all they care about. Complain all you like, but if the new mbp is a success for Apple, then they were right to design it the way they did. Based on pre-order status, it looks like it will be a huge success for them.

Cutting the cost of a $69 adapter by $20 that Apple makes for pennies in China.... only Apple could do that with a straight face

Really unfortunate as I like my 2012 MBPr and was looking to upgrade to a more powerful machine.

Apple has one chance to get another buy from me -- update the 2017 refresh to at least have SD slot and 32GB RAM max. If not those two options, looks like a Dell XPS 15" for me.

Apple gets much of the publicity free of charge by being an *ss. No headphone jack and no SD slot. Very clever! I won't bite again.

Apple is aware of consumer demands. So instead of designing a better and more powerful MBP they go ahead and create a lackluster water down hardware and charge you more. The biggest insult is saying they will reduce the price on their peripherals because they have no intentions on changing their ways. USB is not legacy, SD is not legacy, ethernet us not legacy. Apple removes a hardware feature and charges more for a laptop and then adds peripherals on top. At the end of the day, the consumer is paying more for having less as a standard. Makes complete sense doesn't it. SMH.

Legacy: Things I have and use every day.
Mainstream: Things Apple wants me to buy.

the only decent move would be to put the SD Reader back where it belongs.: inside the macbook pro.

or at least have the decency to include it NO additional price... with a handwritten apology note added to it...
something like: "Sorry, we forgot to put this inside the macbook... but this is at least free".

The title should be:

LIMITED TIME is a very big part of actual story

Cutting their prices for dongles.
So they can sell more dongles.
Dongles seem to be a good business nowadays for Apple....

What sense does it make to buy a small computer and then to have to carry a bag full of dongles to be able to use my MBP as it supposed to be working.

No thanks Apple I am going to vote with my wallet.
