The Buzz: Can you feel it? The *magic* is back! So, you're probably wondering, what makes these beasts so fantastic? And why are they hiding? All great questions. Even though there is strong correlation between the worlds of Fantastic Beasts and the Harry Potter franchise, I'm anxiously anticipating to see how this new story line will play out in this mixed world of No-Majes (aka Muggles). This will be the first of a five, you read that correctly, a FIVE-film series. Potterheads, rejoice! - Akimi

High-school life gets even more unbearable for Nadine when her best friend, Krista, starts dating her older brother.

The Buzz: Now confirmed by multiple close sources, Hailee Steinfeld successfully conveys the necessary level of lovable self-absorption to make this high school comedy worth repeat viewings, which is exactly what i want from the genre. Whoever thought of playing Steinfeld off of a curmudgeon-y Woody Harrelson earns my affection, and anyone who has learned the hard way how close together the send and delete functions can be on your phone, this is your movie of the season. - Arno

Certificate R   -   Biography | Drama | Sport

Metascore: 62/100 (10 reviews)
The inspirational story of World Champion Boxer Vinny Pazienza who, after a near fatal car crash, which left him not knowing if he'd ever walk again, made one of sports most incredible comebacks.

The Buzz: There's just something about boxing that inspires such great storytelling on the big screen. On the one hand, there's the immediacy and no-nonsense nature of the activity: pummeling your fellow combatant into submission. And on the other, there's an endless stream of heroic (and tragic) characters: modern-day gladiators who find themselves fighting personal demons in addition to their physical opponents. Here's a stirring look at '80s boxing sensation Vinny Pazienza (Miles Teller) and his quest to regain a second shot at glory in the ring. - Bret

An uncle is forced to take care of his teenage nephew after the boy's father dies.

The Buzz: This film is essential viewing on my path to the upcoming movie awards season. Casey Affleck is reminding everyone how good he really is, and the film is already generating some Oscar buzz. Plus, it's directed by Kenneth Lonergan, who has been nominated for screenplay Oscars twice and co-wrote Gangs of New York. The story looks to be filled with painfully imperfect characters on journeys of love, heartbreak, and redemption. Truly intrigued, and I have to know more. - Lance

Certificate R   -   Drama | Thriller

Metascore: 76/100 (16 reviews)
An art gallery owner is haunted by her ex-husband's novel, a violent thriller she interprets as a veiled threat and a symbolic revenge tale.

The Buzz: We all know that when Jake Gyllenhaal gets into seriously dark territory, it often results in his best work. But what about Amy Adams? She's never really had such an opportunity until now, which is one of many reasons I am biting my nails to the quick until director Tom Ford's follow-up to the exquisite A Single Man is released. - Arno

Certificate Unrated   -   Biography | Comedy | Drama | Family

Metascore: 50/100 (7 reviews)
Based on the international best selling book. The true feel good story of how James Bowen, a busker and recovering drug addict, had his life transformed when he met a stray ginger cat.

The Buzz: Having not read the book on which this British dramedy is based, I'm drawn primarily to this movie on the basis of Bob the Cat, an orange tabby who happens to look just like mine. Can this be the breakout role, finally, for a short-haired domestic? In all seriousness, I'm a sucker for any tale that sensitively frames the struggles of an underdog (see what I did there) who finally manages to figure things out. - Bret

Certificate R   -   Drama | Horror

Metascore: 73/100 (7 reviews)
A young, lonely woman is consumed by her deepest and darkest desires after tragedy strikes her quiet country life.

The Buzz: With a trailer that's five times more frightening than any "AHS: Roanoke" episode and polarizing critical response, I feel powerless against the pull of this black-and-white nightmare created by first-time director Nicolas Pesce. We're also pro Pesce because he wrote up a list of his favorite B&W; horror movies for us. - Arno

Certificate R   -   Action

Based on the graphic novel, a police officer who can't be stopped by death returns to the streets time and time again to fight crime.
Director:

The Buzz: Promoting both an over the top performance from Kim Coates and serious degrees of ultraviolence, this movie, which was directed by Shawn Crahan, co-founder of the insanely popular metal band Slipknot, might go down as one of the gnarliest comic-book adaptations ever.

A crew of men who do the high-wire work of fixing the electrical grid are hit by a sudden deadly storm.

The Buzz: David Hackl, perhaps best known for his work on a few of the Saw movies, directs John Travolta in a blue collar action movie that ... let's just say it's not getting the same sort of reviews as Travolta's work in "The People v. O.J. Simpson."
