'Keeping Up With the Joneses' flubs its comedy mission

"Keeping Up With the Joneses" is as blandly generic as its title, a comedy that telegraphs every beat with a one-sentence description of the premise and continues the cinematic squandering of Zach Galifianakis since "The Hangover."

'Dirk Gently' doesn't make a smooth leap to TV

Douglas Adams fans learned the hard way that the author's quirky tone doesn't easily translate to the screen with the movie "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." They fare only slightly better with "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency," an ungainly series from BBC America.

'Weiner' captures candidate's political fall

After a celebrated theatrical run, "Weiner" finally arrives on Showtime, feeling even more timely given the most recent sexting scandal involving former New York congressman Anthony Weiner and his subsequent split with wife and Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin.
