VIDEO: AIM Song at Open of #NoDAPL Rally in DC
Last week, water protectors gathered in Washington D.C., outside of where the White House Tribal Nations conference was held, in support of #NoDAPL .
Before the event got underway, Tribal leaders from several Sioux Nations, including Chairman David Archambault II from Standing Rock, Chairman of the Cheyenne River Harold Frazier, Oglala Sioux Tribal President John Yellow Bird Steele sang the AIM song alongside onlookers and water protectors.
In a show of support, tribal leaders and water protectors wore red sashes with the words “Protector” draped over their shoulders. To start the rally, protectors joined an elder as he played the AIM song on a traditional hand drum.
