The News Sentinel is launching new mobile apps on Tuesday.

If you use are our app on either an Apple or Android phone or tablet, it will no longer have updated news beginning Tuesday, Oct. 11. Look for the new app in the Apple App store and in Google Play beginning Tuesday.

Download the Apple iOS app | Download the Android app.

If you have never used our news app, give it a shot! It's a free download.

Along with the launch of the new app, the News Sentinel will turn on a new website on Tuesday.

We know, however, many of you prefer to get news from the News Sentinel via our apps. More than 60 percent of Knoxnews readers use mobile devices to view our content, and the number is rising.

Expanded features on our new app, include:

  • Added weather and sports information.
  • More prominent display of videos.
  • Customized alerts. Are you interested in the latest on weather, traffic, breaking news? Control the updates you get right from your app.
  • Enhanced tools for sharing through Facebook, Twitter, email or text.
  • Ability to bookmark the stories you want to read later.
  • Virtual reality technology that presents 360-degree productions straight from the app.
  • Coverage from other USA Today Network properties. When you download the app, you can choose to follow the news in five other markets in the network, and that includes cities in Tennessee such as Memphis and Nashville, as well as nearby Asheville, North Carolina.

While you are there, download our E-Edition app (for Apple iOS devices or Android devices)  if you haven't already. It provides a complete replica of our print edition, delivered to your device every morning. Features include enlargeable type and access to back issues. It's also free and available for Apple and Android devices.
