It is marvelous and at times, miraculous that some human beings walk into the world for good of the humanity. Their lives become a lesson that generations marvel at and draw inspiration from. History has always produced its finest of sons and daughters and ArtD’Hope salutes one of the boldest of them- Helen Keller, the Wonder Woman of all centuries.

As an organisation that wants to bring about a creative and positive change in society through art, ArtD’Hope has chosen to celebrate Helen Keller and reinvigorate her memories. We are presenting a painting ‘The Advocate- A Tribute to Helen Keller’ to celebrate her birthday on June 27. It is conducted in association with XaXBoX arts.

It is a detailed project which required months-long research and dedication. Many artistes who have carved a niche in their specialized areas join hands to create this painting that use different media and techniques. Sumesh K. Shanmugham is art-directing the painting with the assistance of famed artist Ameen Khaleel. The team consists of artists Anoop M.V, George Soni, A.S. Mathew etc.

The Painting

The 10 feet X 7 feet painting covers the main incidents in Helen Keller’s life and has two segments: the background in black and white and a central figure of Helen feeling a flower with a book on her hands. Helen’s figure is embossed in such a way that visually impaired people can have a feel of the image.
The painting works started on May 23, 2016 at IF Gallery in Mattancherry, Kochi. Basic images and important life events are portrayed as pencil sketches. The painting will be open for public on June 27, Helen Keller’s birthday.
