The Buzz: One thing to love about The Accountant's promotional campaign: You still can't tell exactly how everything is going to unfurl in what looks to be Ben Affleck's best role of the year (no disrespect to his two appearances as Batman). It's also a rebound opportunity for director Gavin O'Connor, who most recently took on the troubled Jane Got a Gun. - Arno

The Buzz: Kevin Hart brings his stand-up comedy to the same arena where the Philadelphia Eagles play, and his latest concert film also features a 007 parody that serves as a prologue to his set. The scale of the production has confounded critics, but his ever-expanding core audience should make his third concert film his most successful yet.

The Buzz: Mattel's popular action figure line has been turned into three TV series already, and now comes the live action movie that earned a hurry-up release date from its distributor. The curiosity factor led to some major trailer views online, but in terms its theatrical run, we have a feeling people will be watching this at home instead of on the big screen.
Desierto (2015) - [Limited]- Drama | Thriller
A group of people trying to cross the border from Mexico into the United States encounter a man who has taken border patrol duties into his own racist hands.
Director:Jonás Cuarón |
|

The Buzz: Jonás Cuarón began outlining this border thriller before he co-wrote Gravity with his father, Alfonso. The script was inspired by a trip Cuarón took through the U.S. Southwest where he heard different migrant/immigrant stories. No doubt Gravity's success helped put the cast and financing together for Cuarón to direct the movie. Beyond the dynamic between Gael García Bernal and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, look for scenes of sparse dialogue pierced by violence to keep you unnerved.
Certain Women (2016) - [Limited]- Drama
The lives of three women intersect in small-town America, where each is imperfectly blazing a trail.
Director:Kelly Reichardt |
|
Watch Trailer |
The Buzz: Unconditional fans of Kelly Reichardt must be kvelling about the cast she assembled for her story that is set in the American heartland; Kristen Stewart and Laura Dern joining forces with Reichardt's muse Michelle Williams? Let the meditative drama commence.
Priceless (2016) - [Limited]- Drama | Romance
A widower who loses custody of his daughter finds himself unable to hold down a job. He agrees to drive a truck across the country, no questions asked. But when he discovers what he is delivering, he is faced with a life-changing choice.
Director:Ben Smallbone |
|
Watch Trailer |
The Buzz: Ben Smallbone directs his brother, Joel, in this true-life tale of a broken man who gets caught up in a human trafficking scheme; the Smallbone brothers are better known as the Christian pop duo For King & Country.
Sarusuberi: Miss Hokusai (2015) - [Limited]- Animation | Biography | Drama | History
The life and works of Japanese artist and ukiyo-e painter Katsushika Hokusai, as seen from the eyes of his daughter, Katsushika O-Ei.
Director:Keiichi Hara |
|
Watch Trailer |
The Buzz: Keiichi Hara's adaptation of Hinako Sugiura's manga Sarusuberi might be seen by genre fans only but plenty of reviews indicate the story of how an artist sees the world has universal appeal.
