Digital Photographic Services

Marge and staffOur services include:

We provide professional digital imaging services to the University community and also to the public. We specialize in working with older materials, such as photo albums and delicate original negatives and prints. We also work with much larger items, such as maps and original artwork.

OUR CAPTURE EQUIPMENT

We use a pair of Canon 5D Mark 11 cameras to do most of our daily digitization work in the Lab. We can shoot both reflective material (such as prints) as well as B&W negatives and color transparencies.

(No color negative scanning, unless you have a color photograph we can match to.)

With the 21.1 megapixel capability of each camera, (which is tethered from a copy stand to a computer) we are able to provide very high resolution. Digital files are transferred automatically from the camera to the computer. Our Capture One software converts the camera RAW files into the tiff format, which we use for all of our high-resolution work.

We can scan film formats from 35mm up to 8 X 10 with this system, or printed materials up to 17 X 22.

Our medium-format copy system described below, has been upgraded to new equipment as of August 2014.

With our DTR cam (Digital Transitions Reprographic) copy system, we can scan items up to 40" by 60", or make several scans and stitch them together. This means we are able to scan panoramic prints, maps, large original artwork, etc.

Also, we have an 80MP IQ180 digital capture back and both the 60mm and 72mm  digital APO Schneider lenses.

We are very excited to have been able to make this upgrade and can continue to offer the very best quality possible.

OUR PRINTERS

Our 3 Epson Professional photo printers can make prints up to 24" wide by almost any length. We also print notecards, 8.5 X 11, 11 X 14, 17 X 22 and 24 X 36 posters.
