MediaWiki talk:Titleblacklist

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
The following instructions were copied from mw:Extension:Title Blacklist.

The title blacklist is maintained as a system message MediaWiki:Titleblacklist.

This page consists of regular expressions, each on a separate line. For example:

Foo <autoconfirmed|noedit|errmsg=blacklisted-testpage>
[Bb]ar #No one should create article about it

There is no need to use "^" at the beginning and "$" at the end; these are added automatically.

Each entry may also contain optional attributes, enclosed in <> and divided by |

  • autoconfirmed — only non-autoconfirmed users are unable to create/upload/move such pages
  • noedit — users are also unable to edit this article
  • casesensitive — don't ignore case when checking title for being blacklisted
  • errmsg — the name of the message that should be displayed instead of standard

When the action is blocked, one of the following messages is displayed together with the filter row (as $1): titleblacklist-forbidden-edit, titleblacklist-forbidden-move, titleblacklist-forbidden-new-account or titleblacklist-forbidden-upload. Generic filenames have their own custom error message, MediaWiki:Titleblacklist-custom-imagename.

There is also MediaWiki:Titlewhitelist and a global title blacklist.

Only administrators and template editors can override this list on all actions. Account creators can override this list on account creations only.

Block Vicky Martin Singh[edit]

There's been an attempt to add an article for Vicky Martin Singh under various names, including Vicky martin (Song Writer) and Vickymartin.singh. I've recently blocked an IP that was trying to get around this and post the article on their talk page as well. (I don't think that we could probably do anything about that, but if so then that'd probably be a good idea.) The IP is very likely Vicky85144 evading a block. So far they haven't tried re-making anything in the mainspace but the IP is persistent so I think that it's likely only a matter of time before they attempt doing this again. DumbBOT title blocks[edit]

Xaosflux (or any one else who can assist with this), in lieu of the fact that it seems as though DumbBOT's operator may or may not be able to respond in a timely manner, can this edit be reverted, as well as also adding pages that start with "Category:Possibly unfree files from" to the list as it seems that DumbBOT is still creating daily WP:PUF categories even though that has since been shut down? Steel1943 (talk) 23:49, 11 April 2016 (UTC)

Yes check.svg Done - this is being discussed further at WP:BON. -- xaosflux Talk 00:34, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
Kde crystalsvg eraser.png Undone - it appears that @Tizio: Special:Diff/714723644 resurfaced to repair his bot - please let me know if this is still occurring. -- xaosflux Talk 00:37, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
  • @Xaosflux: For my latter request (the part not involving a revert), see this diff. The bot just created another daily PUF category. Steel1943 (talk) 00:46, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
OK, I put them both in, and will contact the operator--again :( -- xaosflux Talk 00:51, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

I didn't got that there was a second category to stop creation of. I will stop the bot creating that ones as well (maybe another final category will be created this night).Tizio 08:23, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

Bajotz sock[edit]

See: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Yalexandrov

Request addition of a Bajotz filter. He gets creative with his spelling so something like this to start:
.*[bظ].*?[aáàâäãǎāăąå].*?[jĵ].*?[o0óòôöõǒōŏ]+.*?[tțť].*?[zźžż]?.*

Thanks! CrowCaw 22:31, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

Blacklist name[edit]

We need to have the name Davide Anselmi protected in some format since there are attempts by various socks to get his article recreated. See this, this, and this for the rationale. I'd also recommend protecting against creation of Toward the Tower. It looks like they're used to getting around the title salts, so blacklisting these as titles would be helpful. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 03:50, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

Kean Rabuyo[edit]

Please consider adding .*[Kk]ean\s*[Rr]abuyo.* to the blacklist. Several socks of TV5Ozamiz are making attempts to recreate the article (possibly an autobiography) under various titles with parenthetical disambiguation; see [1], [2], and [3]. Sixth of March 07:05, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

Jodense Valenciano[edit]

Requesting for the addition of .*jodense.*valenci[ae]no.* to the blacklist. Articles with such title keep on being recreated by socks of Dakotaparty. See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Dakotaparty. Sixth of March 09:03, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

Recent socks don't appear to be creating this title. Is it still being created? Nakon 00:45, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
Nakon, it's being recreated by Searcher 0077 as "Jodense Valencieno" and "Jodense Sol Valenciano". Sixth of March 15:21, 4 July 2016 (UTC)

More Unicode blocking?[edit]

Yesterday I deleted Whаt should be the оff раgе SEO асtіvіtіеѕ for nеwѕ wеbѕіtе tо improve kеуwоrdѕ, which in a move typical of web spam, uses Unicode characters in order to get around various filters. There are likely more of these characters nearby. (Lodging this here as a reminder to look at this later.) MER-C 05:33, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

Blacklist addition request[edit]

IIRC, this is a target of SPAs, so whether it's paid or not, I don't know, but we've had SPIs and COINs related to the subject before. As far as content goes, IIRC, the first draft was moved into mainspace after being declined and was deleted, it was recreated as Alex Asiedu and deleted, it was recreated as Alexander Asiedu, deleted as recreation of deleted content, requested to be userfied/put back into draft by an editor who then approved it to make a POINT (or BATTLEGROUND), and was AfDed again. I see now that the draft has been recreated with the same material that was deemed unacceptable previously, and declined once again. MSJapan (talk) 18:32, 3 August 2016 (UTC)

Killed in[edit]

Does anyone know why "killed in" is on the blacklist? I'm asking in response to this request on my talk page. I can't imagine that pattern being so harmful, but more than that I'm genuinely curious. Thanks, -- Tavix (talk) 19:24, 1 September 2016 (UTC)

  • There's a prolific sock who uses that term among others as part of their lulz... "Admins killed in Afghanistan", etc. You may have seen similar patterns already. Feel free to revert me if this is too beansy CrowCaw 21:46, 1 September 2016 (UTC)

Protected edit request on 3 September 2016[edit]

Per this request at WP:EF/R, I believe an entry here would be more appropriate. Could the following be added to the blacklist?

.*(The)?\s?Decoded\s?Sex(e)?s.*

Cannot move own user subpage?[edit]

Hello, I don't seem to be able to move one of my own user subpages, why can't I? Not Invisible (talk) 00:09, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

@Not Invisible: What exactly did you attempt to do? MER-C 07:16, 9 September 2016 (UTC)

Blacklist ZUUZUZ please (Junior5a harassing followup)[edit]

So, the person behind the Junior5a outing is now apparently harassing Zzuuzz by mispelling his name as "ZUUZUZ" into article names. I'm assuming "Zzuzz" is already on the blacklist, but I could be wrong. This is the followup to the repeated Junior5a outing and harassing that made me get "Junior5a" on the title blacklist. If you do add it, thanks. 96.237.27.252 (talk) 23:02, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

He is also bypassing it with "Jr5a" and "Ja" so block those (Though blocking "Ja" might cause collateral) 96.237.18.227 (talk) 00:49, 17 September 2016 (UTC)

MediaWiki talk:Titleblacklist/log date sorting...[edit]

As per WP:SORT#Forcing a column to have a particular data type, please update MediaWiki talk:Titleblacklist/log/tableheader from:

<noinclude>{{pp-protected|small=yes}}</noinclude>
{|class="wikitable sortable"
!Mask!!Add time{{smd}}!!Expiry{{smd}}!!Add by!!Comment

to:

<noinclude>{{pp-protected|small=yes}}</noinclude>
{|class="wikitable sortable"
!Mask!!data-sort-type="isoDate"|Add time!!data-sort-type="isoDate"|Expiry!!Add by!!Comment

Of course based on MediaWiki talk:Titleblacklist/log, the log is not being updated anymore anyway (so maybe it would be easier to just unprotect it and the included header; it should be noted those are protected but {{smd}} is not). Thank you. 50.53.1.33 (talk) 23:50, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

Blacklist addition request for spam (Sept. 20, 2016)[edit]

I request to block the titles Jeux Star, Jeux star and, just to be sure, JEUX STAR. My request is related to a massive spam added by SOCINCWORLD, on 11 wikis (all pages deleted and user warned on major WP). He is mainly using some little WP (in terms of active users and articles) to create pages in which spam this company (see for example cr:ᐘᑧᔸᓮᓯ or tw:Jeux Star). All the details of his activity are located here (meta): it's a request for a goblal lock. Anyway, also the jeuxstar's website should be blacklisted (I dunno if this is the right page). IMHO, adding to the blacklist this pages and the webiste, this massive spam should end immediatly, avoiding further sockpuppets that will have no tools to spam again. Regards. --Dэя-Бøяg 03:35, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

Proposing to add this entry to the blacklist:

Gadget( definition)? talk:.*

Since the Gadget and Gadget definition namespaces are inactive and uneditable pending phab:T31272, it makes a lot of sense to lock their talk namespaces and keep them clean for now. I've occasionally had to G2 pages, or move them back. (If this is not strong enough, perhaps an edit filter may also work.) — Andy W. (talk ·ctb) 02:34, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

Letter prime?[edit]

When trying to move Sää´mođđâz to Sääʹmođđâz, the following error is shown: "Sää´mođđâz" cannot be moved to "Sääʹmođđâz", because the title "Sääʹmođđâz" is on the title blacklist. If you feel that this move is valid, please consider requesting the move first.

Why is this title blacklisted?

See the use of the modifier letter prime ʹ instead of symbol acute accent ´ in the introduction line of the article. The substitution of the prime by acute accent comes from a problem with keyboard input since the acute accent is commonly on keyboard layouts while letter prime isn’t, but typographically the letter prime is correct in Skolt Sami. --Moyogo/ (talk) 09:05, 24 September 2016 (UTC)

Looks like the Unicode character prime was on the blacklist for move only. Page moved as asked. Consider WP:RMT to request uncontroversial moves. — Andy W. (talk ·ctb) 03:35, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
