Rāmgaṛhīā or tarkhāṇ. Sikh caste (zāt, jati). Many gurdwārās bear this name, indicating their establishment by members of the local Rāmgaṛhīā community.

Rāmgaṛhīā Sikhs take their name from the 18th-cent. misl leader, Jassā Siṅgh Rāmgaṛhīā. After playing a key role in relieving the besieged Rām Raunī fort near Amritsar, he was appointed its governor. The fort was renamed Rāmgaṛh and from this he took his new title.
