I have a Bachelor's in Social Work with a minor in Gender Studies from Eastern Kentucky University, and a Master's in Social work with a concentration in family practice and non-profit administration from the University of Kentucky. Most of my scholarly work has been in Therapeutic jurisprudence, specifically, retrospective studies of the effectiveness of truancy and drug courts. I have also been involved in one study on ethical practice with Muslim clients among deeply religious social workers, and one paper regarding the treatment of positivism in social work research education.
I was born and lived in Germany for five years. Army brat through and through. Also served myself. Currently reside in the US.
My personal interests revolve mostly around military, social, and political history and social science. Politically, I am a civil libertarian and a thoroughly Keynesian neo-liberal with regard to economics. Geo-politically, I am a regionalist, and believe that the spheres of influence for first world powers should be restricted to their immediate geographic regions. I self-identified for quite some time as a feminist, but no longer do. Rather, I self-identify as a supporter of gender equality, without the baggage of the post-modernist wing of feminism. I hate post-modernism with an undying passion. Religiously, I am either a soft-atheist or a deist, depending on how much coffee I've had. I have a strong opinion on the Oxford comma (don't get me started). Also I like plants.
