Hold the Rotary Phone: Stephen King Basically Predicted Stranger Things 2 Years Ago

12 hours ago | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

Stephen King: master of horror, Twitter user extraordinaire, fortune teller? King is a noted fan of Netflix's spooky series Stranger Things (just check his Twitter account), but upon much further inspection, you may find that he also predicted the success of one of its stars: Millie Brown, the girl in Intruders, is terrific. Is it my imagination, or are child actors a lot better than they used to be? - Stephen King (@StephenKing) September 28, 2014 Of course, Millie Brown is the child genius who plays Eleven in Stranger Things, and this tweet is from two years ago. Months before the project was announced in April 2015, and a full year before production began in October 2015. How fortuitous is it that King would pick her out of one of her early projects? I'm telling you, the man knows things. H/T Buzzfeed »

'Stranger Things': 8 Questions We Still Have

16 hours ago | Rollingstone.com | See recent Rolling Stone news »

"The campaign was way too short."

"It was 10 hours!"

"But what about the lost knight? And the proud princess? And those weird little flowers in the cave?"

In its final minutes, Stranger Things comes full circle, and the irresistible Netflix nostalgia bath, salted with 1,500 pounds of 1980s sci-fi movie references, ends where it began: Four friends wrap up an all-day session of Dungeons & Dragons, eager for the next adventure. The conversation above is a cheeky meta-moment, like talking through a pitch session for a second season. Wasn't 10 (or, in this case, »

Our Fave References to '80s Movies in Netflix's Stranger Things

3 August 2016 3:25 PM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

Stranger Things is the perfect summer binge watch - fun, suspenseful and beautifully shot, with heroes and heroines that make you say, "she looks like this person I know" - and then they're up against a super creepy monster. It's the kind of show that makes you feel sad when it's over (there are already rumblings about a second season). Kate Hudson called it "all kinds of awesome." Plus the music is cool. From the opening sequence, Stranger Things evokes the beloved '80s filmmaking of Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Wes Craven, John Carpenter, Ridley Scott, John Hughes and others. »

‘Stranger Things’ Reimagined as an ’80s Sitcom

2 August 2016 12:00 PM, PDT | backstage.com | See recent Backstage news »

There are few shows with as much buzz right now as Netflix’s “Stranger Things.” The kid star–making series from the Duffer Brothers follows a group of boys—and features tremendous performances from Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, and Gaten Matarazzo—as they search for their missing friend, Will (Noah Schnapp), and encounter runaway science experiment Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) in the process. Read: “How Kid Actors Can Get Cast on Netflix” The Winona Ryder–starring nostalgia piece harkens back to ’80s classics with references galore and is reminiscent of the moody Stephen King and Steven Spielberg sci-fi era with a touch of John Carpenter and Wes Craven, complete with government conspiracy theories and alien-like creatures. The internet was of course inspired, and churned out this one-minute intro reimagining “Stranger Things” as a sitcom. The cuts and music are so spot on, it’s almost believable. Watch below! Netflix’s “Stranger Things” has become a total phenomenon, becoming everyone’s must-watch new TV thriller of the season. During the red carpet premiere for the series, the cast did a slew of interviews to promote the show, but what they didn’t expect was to get scared by supernatural happenings during one of them.

The series directors, Matt and Ross Duffer, along with Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalie Dyer, Joe Keery, Peyton Wich, and Cade Jones were interviewed in groups and asked if they could describe the show in one word. Meet the Kids from ‘Stranger Things’: Finn Wolfhard and Gaten Matarazzo on ’80s Inspirations & Hollywood Dreams

29 July 2016 5:30 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Young actors Finn Wolfhard and Gaten Matarazzo didn’t have a lot of experience coming into Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” but that ended up working to their advantage.

The ’80s-set thriller is just the fourth role for Wolfhard and the second gig for Matarazzo. Kept from working in Hollywood too long, that means both of them remain untarnished — and better for it. Wolfhard and Matarazzo have the natural screen presence of children who are just being kids.

Wolfhard plays Mikey, the leader of the group searching for their missing friend. “He can be really precocious at times, really funny, and then really serious — solemnly serious about finding his best friend, Will,” Wolfhard said. “And I think that’s why I like him, because he can be so relatable to people who grew up in the ’80s. They can be like, ‘Hey, I was kind of like that,’ or ‘I had a friend like that. »

‘Stranger Things’ season 2; Are Netflix open to a return?

29 July 2016 3:47 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Stranger Things season 2: Netflix chief talks about further seasons of perhaps the most popular new TV show of the year.

More on the Stranger Things season 2 below.

The popularity of Stranger Things, which came to Netflix earlier this month, has been huge and already fans are screaming for a Stranger Things season 2, which isn’t surprising. Well, Netflix head honcho Ted Sarandos has been speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour where he was asked if further seasons are a possibility.

Here’s what he had to say to The Live Feed:

“We always want to take some time to be thoughtful about the process. When we first come out of the gate with something, we have an idea where it’s going to go but it’s sensible for us to let the show breathe. People are falling in love with it, let’s focus on season one. »

‘Stranger Things’ EPs on Season 2: ‘We Could Explore It If Netflix Wanted To’

27 July 2016 3:12 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos may have declined to announce a renewal for the buzzy series “Stranger Things” — “We want to let it breathe a little bit,” he said — but he couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm for the show at the annual Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills.

Series creators Matt and Ross Duffer, along with stars Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, and Caleb McLaughlin were on hand to discuss the breakout hit’s success as well as plans for any future seasons.

The series’ first season does answer most of the questions raised, said Matt. “We want it to feel like a big movie,” he said. “But there’s a bigger mythology, and there’s a lot of dangling threads at the end. We could explore it if Netflix wanted to continue.”

Added Ross, “It’s about giving enough so the audience feels satisfied.”

Five Reasons ‘Stranger Things’ Worked, and One Big Question

26 July 2016 4:43 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Stranger Things” has pulled off an increasingly rare feat. In an age in which TV is saturated with what often feels like too much TV, it’s become a true word-of-mouth hit.

Of course, “hit” might not be the right word: Netflix, of course, does not release viewership figures. But there’s no denying that “Stranger Things,” which had a relatively low profile at its release, has gotten a lot of buzz. Positive reviews probably helped, but anecdotally speaking, people are doing a very old-fashioned thing: They’re telling their friends that this spooky drama is something special. It’s been fun to watch the show’s fanbase grow, quietly but relentlessly.

So I’d like to revise my review a little. When I first wrote about “Stranger Things,” I’d only seen four episodes, and now that I’ve seen all eight, my assessment is even more positive. There’s a decent chance it could end »

’Stranger Things’ Season 2: 9 Questions We’re Dying To Have Answered

25 July 2016 12:15 PM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

One of the joys of Netflix’s original series “Stranger Things” is the season’s sense of finality. The Duffer brothers excelled at crescendoing the season with action, emotion and heft, yet they left what they’ve referred to as “dangling threads” around the conclusions of Will Byers and Eleven, and we wanted to get in on speculating what Season 2 may answer and where the show could venture to. If you’ve finished the season, read on to find out what we’re asking about Season 2. If you haven’t checked out Season 1 yet, Do That and stop reading here!
