See What Thor And Bruce Banner Were Up To During Captain America: Civil War In Hilarious Sketch From Marvel

Captain America: Civil War saw most of the Avengers going head-to-head against one another in an ideological war. However, there were two lonely Avengers who were relegated to the sideline for that particular adventure: namely Hulk and Thor.

Was this struggle between man simply beneath them? Apparently, as revealed in the video, it was for Banner, but what about Thor? Was Thor too busy dealing with things in his homeworld of Asgard to be troubled with this Civil War? It turns out the hero had plenty of time to kill, as revealed via a hilarious sketch entitled "Team Thor."

This video was first introduced to comic book fans at 2016's San Diego Comic-Con, and gave a joking look at what Thor and Banner could have been up to while the rest of the gang was fighting each other. However, Marvel Studios saw fit to release the sketch to the rest of fandom through Twitter, »

Bill Murray's Zombieland Cameo Wasn't Originally Written For Bill Murray

When the movie Zombieland first hit theaters, I was among the skeptics that doubted it would be worth watching. The trailers didn't do anything for me, I never got caught up in the whole zombie craze, and I wasn't convinced the comedic angle would work. Nonetheless, I went to the theater with a group of friends, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the flick.

The humor, for me, was on point, the acting pretty solid, and the entire experience was so much fun that I could overlook how stupid some of the character's decisions were in the film. Of course, one the highlights and surprises of the film was the unexpected appearance of acting and comedian legend, Bill Murray.

In his extensive scenes, Bill Murray plays a version of himself who disguises himself as a zombie in hopes of blending in with the cannibalistic hordes. This works out »

Jack Kirby's Birthday: Reviewing Some of his Best

Jack Kirby is a legend. Jack Kirby is responsible for the visual representations of pretty much any hero you can think of from Marvel. The Fantastic Four. The Hulk. Thor. Iron Man. Without Jack Kirby’s illustrations we wouldn’t have such amazing images to place along with Stan Lee’s words. Jack Kirby would have been 99 today so in honor of his amazing work, we’re going to discuss one of his most famous works.

The comic in question is The Fantastic Four, issue #48. I really enjoyed the build up to the Galactus reveal. Building up to it, you understood the team were about to face a foe that had unrivaled power. Sometimes, especially in that era of comics, the antagonists were not the most scary individuals. I think of Star Trek and the Ferengi. Initially, Gene Roddenberry wanted the Ferengi to be major villains on the show yet »

Giancarlo Esposito Turned Down A Marvel TV Show In Hopes Of Getting Into The Marvel Films

Last week, I wrote extensively about the downsides of Marvel's Cinematic Universe, which spans both TV and film. While I very much appreciate the ambition and idea of the universe, I feel that due to the bifurcated nature of Marvel Studios (the film studio) and Marvel TV (the TV studio), not enough is being done to truly make them all one truly cohesive universe. Yes, the TV universe can refer to the films, but good luck getting Marvel Studios to acknowledge that Daredevil is running around Hell's Kitchen, or that Coulson is still alive.

Read: Why Marvel's TV Shows Need To Cut And Run From The Marvel Cinematic Universe Films

Well, in addition to Marvel not taking advantage of the world they've created, it sounds like they're getting an unintended consequence from at least one well known actor -- Giancarlo Esposito.

Luke Cage Clip Shows The Downside Of Being Invincible

Both Daredevil and Jessica Jones had their time in the spotlight, but September 30 will see the new defender of Harlem snagging some much-needed screen time in Luke Cage.

We've already had some hefty glances as the upcoming Netflix series through a couple of trailers, and in the latest officially-released clip, we see the downside of being the damn near invincible.

Check out the clip below.

If you've seen this clip before, you're not alone. The second part hit the web some time ago, but was then quickly pulled down by Marvel. Still, as happens with the internet, there were still places you can check it out.

Regardless, this scene is all kinds of fun and is hopefully indicative of the awesomeness that will go down come September 30, when the entire first season of Luke Cage hits Netflix.

What did you think of the clip? Let us know in the comments down below! »

Doctor Strange: Another Villain Revealed? Plus Clip and Motion Poster Are All Kinds Of Psychedelic

26 August 2016 4:32 PM, PDT

So it sounds like Mads Mikkelsen's Kaecilius won't be the only villain rearing his silver-speckled head in Doctor Strange, the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

On a recent episode of Harmontown, the podcast for Community creator Dan Harmon (who is known to have done some rewrites for Doctor Strange), the writer pulled up a list of files on his computer. One eagle-eyed Reddit user named Bifrost5 noticed that one of the documents was titled "Strange Confronts Dormamu." Dormamu, for those who don't know, is one of the more prominent recurring villains for Doctor Strange.

Is this, indeed, a catch from the Reddit user, or have we merely succumbed to the trickery of a funny fellow? As of right now, we only know about Kaecilius, but it wouldn't be out of character for Marvel to either have multiple villains, or set up a villain for a future film. »

5 Things Happening in the World of Pro Wrestling

26 August 2016 2:36 PM, PDT

1.Adam Cole came out victorious, as predicted by me last week, at Death Before Dishonor. It’s a well deserved victory for an up and coming star. What that victory, it caps Ring of Honor’s first real attempt at an episodic story line. One legitimate issue I’ve had with Ring of Honor television is the fact that apart from some rudimentary nods to their Pay Per Views, the shows have been random matches that have no real meaning. Wrestling is story telling. If we wanted to see two guys, or ladies, fight, we’d watch Mma. While the story was spotty, the fact they found a way to keep us viewed to the screen every week is a step in the right direction if the company hopes to expand. One bit of advice I have for Ring of Honor. Get Steve Corino back on color commentary! You have »

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2: Guardians Are Hired To Fight Multi-Dimensional Monster, James Gunn Says

26 August 2016 1:35 PM, PDT

A few days ago, there was a shiny new piece of concept art that was revealed for James Gunn's upcoming film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The artwork was a fun piece that looked like it was straight out of some pulpy dime store novel, but it came with no extra information attached to it, and all we could do was speculate as to how it may work its way into the plot.

Recently, however, in a recent Facebook Q & A, Gunn gave us a couple extra details regarding the tentatcled creature:

"[The monster in the concept art is] an Abelisk, a multi-dimensional being, and the Guardians have been hired to fight him."

So in that single sentence, Gunn seems to have confirmed two things. First is that the Guardians are, for all intents and purposes, mercenaries. Second, is that there are multiple dimensions in the the film.

Admittedly, I don't think much will be »

Comic Book Reviews: DC Comics Round-Up Week 08-24-2016

Comic Book Reviews: DC Comics Round Up Week 08-24-2016

Recently I put up an article here on Lrm about getting into Batman for new or casual readers (and to an extent, some of the more regular comic book readers out there). I broke it down to three good jumping on points, of which Tom King’s "Batman: Rebirth #1" was used.  Now with some of the "Rebirth" books getting near issue six, I can say almost (Almost, not All!) all of the official "Rebirth" books have been an excellent introduction to the series for new readers. On that front, DC has been hugely successful (and the sales numbers are showing it).  While continuity is still a bit funky, and events within titles don’t really seem to match up in a macro sense, each individual series has been a blast to read. While I am still reading Marvel books, »

Why Marvel's TV Shows Need To Cut And Run From Marvel's Cinematic Universe Films

26 August 2016 11:52 AM, PDT

In theory, a cinematic universe that spans across TV and film is a great idea. In today's day and age, we've learned to embrace epic scope, recurring characters, and serialized storytelling. No longer is it enough that a film stands alone, but we like to see these films also work in favor of a larger story -- even if its contribution to the overall vision is just ancillary. We love the idea of having a flexible and dynamic universe that spans different mediums, as it increases our investment.

But this all comes at a cost. It's one thing to create a universe with a team of 10-15, but with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are hundreds of cooks in the kitchen, and no less than a handful of productions going on at any given time that contributes to this massive universe. These productions in this world currently span film, network TV, »

Star Wars Episode VIII: Daisy Ridley On When We Can Expect A Title Announced

26 August 2016 9:52 AM, PDT

I can't tell you how sick I am of writing Star Wars Episode VIII in the articles for Lrm. There's something about it that feels so incomplete. Sure, the title for these films have never been amazing (I'm looking at you, Attack of the Clones), but there's something nice about having a tangible title to work with.

Unfortunately, it sounds like I'm going to have to get over my damn self on that front, because if actress Daisy Ridley is right, we'll likely not get a title for the flick for a good while.

Speaking with the podcast My Dad Wrote a Porno, Ridley said the following regarding a title for the film:

"I heard a title, but I don’t know if it’s going to be that. I really don’t know much about anything. I heard the title a long time ago before we started filming, and »

Donald Glover Talks Briefly On His Spider-man: Homecoming Role And Those Star Wars Rumors

26 August 2016 9:32 AM, PDT

Things certainly seem to be on the rise for Donald Glover, an actor and writer who had his start in online sketch comedy before hopping into features with the Derrick Comedy features Mystery Team. Around the same time, Glover began to establish himself in the TV world as a writer/actor on 30 Rock before moving into the show that brought him his greatest mainstream recognition: Community

Interestingly enough, Donald Glover is also notable to Spider-Man fans, as he was one of the inspirations for Miles Morales, the half black, half hispanic Marvel character who takes on the mantle of Spider-Man after the death of Peter Parker. Donald Glover even got to voice the character in the animated series Ultimate Spider-Man for a bit, and from there, a grassroots campaign to get Glover cast in Spider-Man: Homecoming in some form or another paid off when it was announced he would be »

Film Review: The Intervention

26 August 2016 9:15 AM, PDT

Anxieties of thirtysomethings are a tale as old as time. A few weeks ago the melancholic Joshy reminded us of the challenges young men face growing up today, and it was only about three decades ago that Glenn Close and William Hurt gave us The Big Chill. So another movie about close friends dealing with life and each other is not necessarily an innovative concept. But a new indie flick from Sundance, The Intervention, delivers a worthwhile and funny twist on the concept with its gut wrenchingly honest dialogue and a subtly brilliant performance by Melanie Lynskey from Two and a Half Men.

Lynskey’s character, Annie, has summoned her lifelong friends to a weekend getaway at their pal Jesse’s estate outside Savannah. Jesse is played by Clea DuVall, who also directed the film. But it’s not fun and games Annie has in mind. She’s coopted the others, »
