About Hebburn

Hebburn is a small town in South Tyneside. It dates back to the 8th century, when Vikings burned a settlement of fishermen’s huts. Hebburn became known as an industrial town based on ship-building, mining and engineering and was home to Hawthorn Leslie Shipyard and Newcastle Shipbuilding Company Ltd. Now it is known for being the inspiration for BBC TV comedy drama Hebburn.
