David Moyes was appointed Sunderland manager on July 23 2016. He succeeded Sam Allardyce at the Stadium of Light after he left to take charge of England. Moyes' managerial career has seen him also in charge of Preston, Everton, Manchester United and Real Sociedad. His appointment at Sunderland was a long time coming for owner Ellis Short who had tried to lure Moyes to the club the last two times he'd appointed a new boss.
