Win Passes To The Advance Screening Of Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice In St. Louis

2 hours ago | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Get ready DC Comics fans – we’re giving away 3 passes to one of the most anticipated films of 2016.

From director Zack Snyder (“Man of Steel”) comes Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, starring Oscar winner Ben Affleck (“Argo”) as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill (“Man of Steel,” “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.”) as Superman/Clark Kent in the characters’ first big-screen pairing.

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Directed by Zack Snyder, the film also stars Oscar nominees Amy Adams (“American Hustle,” “Man of Steel”) as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg (“The Social Network”) as Lex Luthor, »

Michael Keaton’s McDonald’s Movie ‘The Founder’s’ Release Moved Up

1 March 2016 3:12 PM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

The Weinstein Company has moved up “The Founder,” starring Michael Keaton as the founder of the McDonald’s chain.

TWC, which acquired the film’s rights last year, has changed the release date from Nov. 25 to Aug. 4. The story, developed in the vein of “The Social Network,” will focus on how Ray Kroc — a milkshake dispensers salesman — created one of the most powerful brands in the world. Kroc began working for the McDonald brothers as a franchising agent in 1954, at the age of 51, and bought the chain for $2.7 million in 1961.

Part of the story will focus on Kroc meeting Mac and Dick McDonald, who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California. Kroc was impressed by the brothers’ speedy system of making food and saw franchise potential.

Nick Offerman, Linda Cardellini, Laura DernB.J. Novak and John Carroll Lynch also star in “The Founder.”

Jesse Eisenberg Still Wants to Do 'Zombieland 2'

1 March 2016 12:13 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Back in 2009, when Zombieland hit theaters, it served as a breakout hit for not only rising star Jesse Eisenberg, but also for director Ruben Fleischer and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The movie earned over $102 million worldwide, from a $23 million budget, and there was talk of Zombieland 2 shortly thereafter. During a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jesse Eisenberg teases that he'd love to do the sequel, although it isn't known when it may move forward.

"Yeah, it'd be wonderful to do. I know they've been trying to do it for a while, and I know they're trying to figure out exactly what will occur in it. But it's a kind of movie that, as soon as it came out, seemed appropriate to generate a sequel. It takes place in this odd, created world and features an ensemble of interesting characters that it'd be curious to see more of. »

'Batman v Superman' Deleted Scene Sends Jimmy Kimmel to the Rescue?

29 February 2016 10:50 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Last night after The Academy Awards, Jimmy Kimmel Live! held his annual post-Oscars special on ABC, which featured a number of stars including Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's Ben Affleck. During his interview segment with Jimmy Kimmel, the star revealed that a Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice scene he shot with the talk show host had to be cut for time, but, thankfully, he brought this clip for everyone to see. Unfortunately, this scene won't be featured when Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25, but it certainly is entertaining.

Of course, this isn't an actual scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but it's a parody of one scene we've seen in the previously released trailers, with Henry Cavill's Clark Kent meeting Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne for the first time. Jimmy Kimmel plays himself. Things take a hilarious turn »

First 'Batman v Superman' Featurette Arrives

29 February 2016 7:12 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

'Today is a day for truth!' Today is also a day for a brand new Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice sneak peek. Director Zack Snyder is on hand to show off new footage and talk about the story behind his superhero epic. This featurette mainly focuses on Turkish Airlines, and what it means to the production. The filmmaker first describes the tone of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and how it ties into 2013 blockbuster Man of Steel.

"With Batman V Superman, I wanted to continue this tone established in Man of Steel, but I really wanted to recapture some of the quality of the movies I loved, that inspired me. We spent a lot of time and were very careful about where we would go for the next journey into the DC universe. We knew we had established a Clark Kent/Superman character in a world that we could build out. »

Watch Superman Beat on Batman in New 'Batman v Superman' Clip

29 February 2016 2:59 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

After the 2016 Oscars went down, Jimmy Kimmel Live! had Ben Affleck on the show and he brought an all-new clip from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with him. In the clip, Batman seems to have gotten the wind knocked out of him, while Superman warns him to "stay down." Of course, Batman doesn't give up easily, and was right back on his feet delivering some sort of smokescreen that we can only think has some chemical in it that renders Superman's powers useless.

In the film, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante, fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, takes on Metropolis's most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before.

In just under one month, Warner Bros. will launch its massive DC Comics Extended Universe (Dceu) with the highly-anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, directed by Zack Snyder. While we've seen a number of trailers for this superhero adventure, there is still much we don't know about the movie, including the identities of several cast members. Last night, actress Carla Gugino live-tweeted during the HBO premiere of last summer's San Andreas, where she teased that she has a secret voice role in the movie.

"You might hear me in it if you listen carefully."

While she wouldn't reveal what role she has in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, this will be the third time she has worked with director Zack Snyder. She previously starred as Silk Spectre in the filmmaker's 2009 superhero adaptation Watchmen and in his 2011 follow-up Sucker Punch. Have you ever wondered just how accurate those "based on a true story" films are? You might be surprised to know that some of them are a little more Bs than set in reality. Now you can get your facts straight thanks to the website Information is Beautiful, according to Gizmodo. The site dissects a number of movies from The Wolf of Wall Street to The Social Network and explains scene-by-scene just how truthful they are. Pretty nifty if you ask us. Jesse Eisenberg On Lex Luthor's Contradictions in 'Batman v Superman'

26 February 2016 10:17 AM, PST | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

WB and DC's upcoming opus seems to be carrying its fair amount of controversies. From its abundance of DC characters to its inflated budget, fans seem both excited and terrified at the prospect of seeing Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice hit theaters. One of the many controversial aspects of the film was the casting of Jesse Eisenberg as Superman's arch nemesis Lex Luthor.

When comic fans think of Luthor, chances are they think of bald, middle-aged business tycoon, and in casting Eisenberg, who is perhaps best known for portraying Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network, there seems to be a definite clash between what the filmmakers are going for and what fans are expecting. That being said, Jesse Eisenberg is a real actor's actor, and when he devotes himself to a role, he's never one to phone it in.

While promoting his upcoming film, Louder Than Bombs (which he »

Oscars: Ranking the Best Picture Nominees

25 February 2016 4:01 PM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Justin Chang: Guy, we started this deep-dive conversation about the best picture race less than an hour after Alejandro G. Inarritu clinched the Directors Guild of America’s top prize for “The Revenant,” which was pretty much the last confirmation we needed — after the Producers Guild picked “The Big Short” and the Screen Actors Guild opted for “Spotlight” — that this really is the wildest, craziest, most confoundingly unpredictable best-picture Oscar race in years. Exciting, isn’t it? I’d be more excited if this recent turn of events didn’t seem to favor “The Revenant,” which now has extraordinary momentum on its side. There we were, hoping the film’s Golden Globe triumphs would simply be an isolated HFPA fluke — but then it came roaring back with a vengeance, not unlike that easily distracted CGI bear at its center, ready to sink its teeth back into the race and not let go this time. »

The Academy Awards are this weekend - but how do you actually go about winning one? Plus: some Oscar predictions.

Whether or not you believe they’re still relevant, the Oscars are undeniably the biggest event in the Hollywood calendar. I am fascinated by them, what intrigues me most is the general consensus that this process is a game of strategy and if you want to win, you have to know the rules. But actors and directors don’t have time to work this out for themselves, they’re far too busy and important. I however am not.

Therefore I have poured over lists of Oscar winners for more time than is healthy in order to determine exactly what it takes to win one of these much desired awards. I’m going to give you the tried and tested formulai for how to win Best Actress, Best Actor and Best Picture. »

In the the last five years, the Scripter award winners have gone on to win the Adapted Screenplay Oscar: "The Social Network," "The Descendants," "Argo," "12 Years A Slave," and "The Imitation Game." Hosted by USC's Dean of Libraries, Catherine Quinlan, the Scripters added television this year, a sign of the times. According to The Wrap, Jessica Chastain has been offered the lead role in Molly’s Game, the upcoming directorial debut of Academy Award and Golden Globe-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network, Steve Jobs).

The site reports that Chastain is yet to enter negotiations, having recently set up her own production company, but is said to be eager to star in the film, which is based upon the memoir of Molly Bloom, a former world-class skier who moved to Los Angeles after failing to make the cut for the Olympics and ultimately wound up running high-stakes poker games for the Hollywood elite before being brought down by the FBI.

Chastain has just started shooting the gun control drama Miss Sloane, and will be seen this year in The Huntsman: Winter’s War and The Zookeeper’s Wife. She also has several other projects on her slate, including The Death of Life of John F. »

Jessica Chastain Circling Female Lead In Aaron Sorkin’s Directorial Debut

Last month it was announced that snappy screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network, Steve Jobs) will be sitting in the director’s chair for his next movie, Molly’s Game. News surrounding the project now points to Sorkin’s search for a leading lady on the film, with rumors stating that he’s offered Jessica Chastain the part.

The role of the titular Molly would task Chastain with embodying “an intelligent and driven” skier and Political Science major who left school for a year after her dreams of entering the Olympics were crushed. After “a bizarre series of circumstances,” Molly Bloom finds herself heading a ring of elite, high-stakes poker for nearly a decade while attempting to evade the eye of the FBI.

The story is an adaptation of the real-life Molly Bloom’s autobiography. Sorkin was sought to adapt the book in 2014 by the Mark Gordon Company, with Gordon »

Listen to Atticus Ross' Badass 'Triple 9' Ep Right This Second (Exclusive)

With the electronic pulse familiar from "The Social Network," "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," and "Gone Girl" (all composed with Trent Reznor) heightened nearly to the breaking point, the new Ep has us even more excited for "Triple 9" (Open Road, February 26). The hands-on Hillcoat "had a particular vision for the music on this movie, which was raw sounding electronics accompanied by, bizarrely, a saxophone," according to Ross. "John wanted to avoid ‘sophistication’ and capture the excitement of hands-on performances with noisy, broken machines.” The collaborators succeeded: the first track, the cleverly titled "Ticking Glock," is intense enough to rouse you from even the deepest mid-afternoon malaise. The Ep, co-created with Bobby Krlic, Leopold Ross, and Claudia Sarne, also features Ross' remix of Cypress Hill's 1991 'Pigs.' All of Ross' profits from the song will be donated to the National »
