Weddings, engagements, anniversaries, 5-generations

We want to print the stories and photos that announce your engagements, tell of your weddings and wedding anniversaries, and illustrate your five-generation families. It's important to us, to you and to our readers. It's something everybody loves to read. We're willing to adjust if circumstances require it, but generally we'd like to live by these rules:

We run these stories and photos in our Lifestyles Section on Sundays. We need you to get us the pictures and information by noon on Wednesday, 10 days prior to the desired Sunday publication. We try to print weddings scheduled for Sunday in the following Sunday's edition.

We'd like the photos to be good quality black and white prints, if possible, no larger than 5x7. We'll try to work with whatever you give us, though. Color photographs are also admissible.

Once you bring the photographs to the Herald-Journal, they become the property of the newspaper. We're sorry, but we cannot return them, nor can we hold them to be picked up.

Wedding and engagement forms are available from the Herald-Journal. We can mail the form to you if you can't get by our office. We're sorry, but we can't take the information by phone. You can go to GoUpstate.com and click on the "Living" section to download electronic copies of all the forms.

We want to run wedding announcements within a month of the wedding, while it's still news. If for some reason you can't get us the information in less than a month, please try to give us a call and let us know what the problem is.

We run photos and stories, as space is available, for anniversaries beginning with the 25th and at five-year intervals thereafter (30th, 35th, etc.). We don't have any forms to fill out for this. Just drop us a note. Please sign your name and give a phone number so we can confirm the information.

We also run photos of five-generation families, that is, for direct descendants from one family line. We need you to tell us the names and relationships of the people in the photo, their addresses and phone numbers. Please feel free to call us at (864) 582-4511, extension 7260, if you have any questions.

You can send us your weddig, engagement or anniversary notice to celebrations@shj.com.

When mailing notices, send them several days in advance to Herald-Journal, Religion News, P.O. Box 1657, Spartanburg, S.C. 29304. You may bring them to our downtown office at 189 W. Main St. or fax them to 594-6350, marked "religion highlights.'
