Anne Hathaway open to Catwoman spin-off movie

While it would seem highly improbable given that Warner Bros. is now in full swing with its DC Extended Universe, Anne Hathaway has revealed that she’s open to reprising the role of Selina Kyle from The Dark Knight Rises should the opportunity for a Catwoman spinoff film ever arise.

“I loved that character and I had such a blast playing her,” said Hathaway in an interview with Variety. “I’m not sure how it would work because I think the Chris Nolan chapter of the Batman story has been wrapped up and I’m part of that, but I love the DC Universe and it would be fun to take a trip back.”

More likely is that Warner Bros. and DC Films will introduce a new Catwoman into the Dceu, and Hathaway went on to state that she has no issue with another actress taking on the iconic role: »

J.A. Bayona confirms Jurassic World trilogy

With Jurassic World proving to be a mega-hit at the box office, grossing a whopping $1.67 billion worldwide, Universal Pictures wasted little time in announcing a sequel, set for release in 2018.

However, with director Colin Trevorrow signing on for Star Wars: Episode XI, J.A. Bayona (The Impossible) is taking over the reins for the next chapter of the dinosaur franchise, and Bayona has been chatting to Latino Review about the sequel, confirming that it is planned as the middle instalment of a Trevorrow-steered trilogy.

“The whole Jurassic World is a trilogy that Colin Trevorrow has envisioned,” said Bayona during a promotional interview for his new film A Monster Calls. “We’re writing the second chapter, and it’s very interesting where he’s leading the story. I grew up watching Steven Spielberg movies and I love those movies and the legacy, so it’s a question of being truthful to »

James Cameron says the Avatar sequels are “a family saga”

Earlier this year James Cameron revealed that he’s expanded his plans for the Avatar franchise to four sequels, and while production was initially slated to begin in April, it seems the filmmaker is not quite ready to pull the trigger on the massively ambitious project. Nevertheless, speaking to Variety about the sequels and the and the new Cirque du Soleil prequel Toruk, Cameron offered a brief update on his progress, as well as suggesting that the story will present “family saga”.

“We’ve got most of the sequel stuff already designed, but I like this idea of weaving back and forth between the two worlds, the live world and the film world. The storyline in the sequels really follows Jake and Neytiri and their children,” he added. “It’s more of a family saga about the struggle with the humans. But thematically, Toruk manages to land very very closely »

Cm Punk Taps Out In Ufc Debut! Is He Done With Ufc? | WrestleTalk News

After almost two years after signing with Ufc in November 2014, Cm Punk made his mixed martial arts debut in the same venue where he told Vince McMahon he was leaving WWE on the 27th January 2014 Raw – the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

Having no professional or amatuer experience in Mma, Punk went up against the brown belt, 2-0 record holding Mickey Gall. Punk went for Gall as soon as the bell rang, but the 24-year-old took him down to the mat and spent the next two minutes pounding on Punk while trying to transition into a rear-naked choke. Once he got it locked in, Punk tapped – just 2 minutes 14 seconds into the first round.

In a typically brilliant promo after the fight, Punk promised:

“I will be back, believe it or not. This was the most fun I’ve ever had in my life, the second best night of my life besides marrying my wife, »

Movie Review – Don’t Breathe (2016)

Don’t Breathe, 2016.

Directed by Fede Alvarez.

Starring Stephen Lang, Jane Levy, Dylan Minnette, and Daniel Zovatto.

Synopsis;

Hoping to walk away with a massive fortune, a trio of thieves break into the house of a blind man who isn’t as helpless as he seems.

2016 has been a great year for horror so far. We’ve enjoyed The Conjuring 2, The Witch, and 10 Cloverfield Lane and now we can add Don’t Breathe to the list of great horror thrillers.

A trio of disillusioned teenagers in Detroit (Levy, Minette and Zovatto) spend their time breaking into houses, making sure they never take enough to commit grand larceny. When the opportunity for a score of $300k comes up, the trio sneak into the house of a blind army vent (Lang), not realising that he’s more dangerous than they could ever imagine.

Don’t Breathe doesn’t do anything new in terms of character creation. »

Neill Blomkamp teases mystery new project

Following the release of his latest film Chappie, Neill Blomkamp moved into development on his Alien sequel, only for 20th Century Fox to apply the breaks when Ridley Scott decided to return to his Alien universe for the Prometheus follow-up Alien: Covenant.

So, with Alien 5 now on indefinite hold, the South African filmmaker has moved on to other things, and he’s taken to Instagram to tease a new mystery project, posting the following image with the caption “working on new things. Currently not alien”:

Now, it’s unclear whether the above image relates to a movie, or a TV project, but it’s probably safe to assume that Sharlto Copley will be involved somehow. And maybe an exosuit or two.

Why We All Love Flops

Neil Calloway argues that we enjoy it when a film fails at the box office…

This week brought the news – unsurprising to most – that this year had been less than stellar at the box office, with several films disappointing in terms of their grosses The Bfg, Alice Through The Looking Glass and Ben-Hur have joined Ghostbusters in not pulling in the crowds.

Much of this has been blamed on sequel and franchise fatigue, though two of the biggest films of the year have been Captain America: Civil War and Finding Dory, so it certainly doesn’t explain everything, but of course we all love a good flop.

Part of it is that we like to see big studios come a cropper when they remake beloved classics; schadenfreude at seeing Hollywood studios ailing and part of it is just that disasters have more interesting stories behind them. Recent documentaries have been »

Jeff Nichols to direct Alien Nation remake

Back in March it was revealed that 20th Century Fox is developing a remake of the 1988 sci-fi buddy cop movie Alien Nation, and now comes word that the project has secured a director in Jeff Nichols, the filmmaker behind the likes of Take Shelter, Mud, Midnight Special and Loving. Nichols will also write the script, as well as producing alongside his Loving collaborators Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Sara Greene.

Alien Nation starred James Caan as a racially-insensitive police detective forced to partner up with an extraterrestrial police officer (Mandy Patinkin), a member of an alien race who came to earth to escape slavery and assimilated in Los Angeles. The film spawned a TV series, along with a number of made-for-tv movies.

Nichols’ latest movie Loving, stars Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga as an interracial couple arrested and imprisioned in 1950s Virginia, is set for release in the States this November.

Live-action Mulan movie in development at Sony

In an article over at Variety discussing former Sony executive Doug Belgrand, it has been revealed that the studio is developing a live-action Mulan movie, which will be shot in China with a Chinese financing partner and a mostly Chinese cast.

The project is one of six movies that Belgrand is co-financing at Sony, including Bad Boys For Life, Zombieland 2, Mallory, a Charlie’s Angels reboot and the live-action/CG hybrid Peter Rabbit.

Mulan is based upon the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan and tells of a legendary warrior woman during the Han Dynasty. There have been several film adaptations of the story, most notably Disney’s 1998 animated feature.

As it happens, Disney also has a live-action Mulan movie in development, with news breaking last year that the studio had snapped up a script from Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hyneck.
