[Spoiler alert: The following interview covers plot details from the entire eight-episode first season of Netflix’s “Stranger Things.” Do not read until you’ve finished the season.]

While the Netflix summer hit “Stranger Things” still hasn’t been officially renewed for Season 2, its creators, known as the Duffer brothers, are weighing in on what the future of the show could possibly hold.

Specifically, the future of one Barb who captured the internet’s heart as the sidekick who tragically dies and is essentially forgotten while the rest of the season focuses on saving

another character.

First things first, the bad news: Barb is almost definitely not coming back to the show. “I can’t see it happening” Matt Duffer told IGN in a recent interview.

But he acknowledged that they hear the weeping and gnashing of teeth surrounding the character’s unfortunate demise, and the general lack of emotional closure.

“Barb will not be forgotten,” he said. “We’ll make sure there’s some justice for Barb. People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesn’t seem to be really dealing with Barb »

‘American Horror Story’: FX Releases Yet Another Teaser for Season 6

This time, with a spider.

Over the past month or so, FX has rolled out 14 promo videos for its sixth season. And still, no official theme has been announced.

The latest shows an eight-legged freak crawling out of a human mouth. It’s creepy, but before your mind goes running fantasizing about Sarah Paulson as Sônia Braga in “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” an arachnid-themed season may or may not be in our collective future.

FX CEO John Landgraf revealed at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Aug. 9 that most of the “Ahs” teasers were misdirects, and only one of the final teasers is an accurate depiction of the Season 6 theme.

“We just thought it would be really fun to keep it a mystery this year. And we are,” Landgraf told reporters at TCA. “They went out and made many more trailers than you’ve actually seen for hypothetical seasons of ‘American Horror Story.’ One »

TV Ratings: Rio Games Take Silver with 27.5 Million Average for Competition Coverage

1 hour ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Olympic fatigue set in on Saturday night as NBC’s broadcast of the Rio Olympic games hit its lowest ebb with the final night of competition coverage.

NBCUniversal said the 15 days of competition overall averaged 27.5 million viewers, according to its total audience delivery (Tad) tracking system that incorporates broadcast, cable and digital ratings. Per that measure, the Rio games rank No. 2 in viewership (for a non-u.S.-hosted Olympics) behind London 2012, which averaged 30.3 million viewers.

The peak of the 15-day frame came on Aug. 9, when NBC served up a blockbuster combination of swimmers Michael Phelps and Katie Ledecky capturing gold medals and gymnast sensation Simone Biles helping to lead the U.S. women’s team to victory. That night averaged 36.1 million viewers in the Tad measure, most of which came from NBC (33.4 million).

Behind London and Rio, Beijing 2008 (27.2 million), Barcelona 1992 (26.4 million) and Seoul 1988 (25.8 million) round out the top five most-watched games.

Greg Nicotero has heard the negative reactions to the cliffhanger that ended season six of “The Walking Dead,” and he thinks they’ve been blown out of proportion. (On the internet? Never!) The makeup artist, executive producer and director suggests that “a very small percentage of our fans were upset” in a new Deadline interview occasioned by his most recent Emmy nomination, arguing that only a vocal minority of the millions who watched season six’s concluding episode were bothered by it.

Mediaset Takes Legal Action Against Vivendi Citing Breach of Contract in Pay-tv Deal

9 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Italian broadcaster Mediaset has taken legal action against French media conglomerate Vivendi for alleged breach of contract in a new twist in the ongoing tensions between the two European media giants over a pay-tv deal which has gone sour.

The concrete legal step follows a war of words between Vivendi CEO Arnaud de Puyfontaine and Mediaset chief executive Pier Silvio Berlusconi (pictured) ever since Vivendi in late July announced it was backing out of the deal.

Mediaset, which is controlled by former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s family, announced on Friday it has filed a suit asking a Milan court to enforce the sale to Vivendi of its Mediaset Premium pay-tv arm.

In a statement Mediaset said it is asking for damages estimated at 50 million euros ($56.6 million) per month for every month of delay starting from July 25.

In April the two companies had announced an agreement that would see Vivendi acquire a 100% stake in Mediaset Premium as »

The details of Ryan Lochte‘s so-called “robbery” in Rio are still a bit fuzzy, but Matt Lauer attempted to get to the bottom of the story Saturday night.

In Lochte’s first interview since admitting he “over-exaggerate[d]” his earlier claim that he and three other U.S. swimmers had been robbed at gunpoint in Brazil, when in fact they had vandalized a gas station and were confronted by a security guard to pay for the damages, the Olympian told Lauer that he takes “full responsibility” for embellishing his story.

Ryan Lochte Tells Matt Lauer: ‘I Over-Exaggerated that Story’

18 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte has finally spoken out in the wake of the scandal in Rio, where he and his teammates claimed to have been robbed and held at gunpoint.

“I’m taking full responsibility for it,” he told NBC’s Matt Lauer. “I over-exaggerated that story. If I’d never done that, we wouldn’t be in this mess…. It was my immature behavior.”

The exclusive interview aired Saturday night during NBC’s Nightly News and primetime Olympics coverage. The rest will air Monday, Aug. 22 on “Today.”

Lochte had originally claimed that he and three teammates — James Feigen, Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz — were robbed in a taxi while heading to the Olympic Village by two men with guns and badges. But Brazilian police said the swimmers had instead vandalized a gas station bathroom and gotten into a confrontation with an armed security guard.

Lauer asked Lochte why he said he’d been a “victim.”
