Hear Nickelback's Unique Cover of Don Henley's 'Dirty Laundry'

Canadian rockers put hard rock spin on musician's 1982 solo hit about crass media coverage

Nickelback have turned Don Henley's 1982 solo hit "Dirty Laundry" into an outsized hard rock track.

Nickelback recently released an outsized cover of Don Henley's 1982 solo hit "Dirty Laundry." Last Friday on Twitter, the Canadian rockers said of the track, "Sometimes you play a song in the studio for fun. Sometimes it's so fun you have to record & share it with everyone!"

Nickelback's rendition fills the song with grungy guitars and Chad Kroeger's throaty wail, a far cry from Henley's smooth falsetto. Still, the group manages to capture the lithe pop grooves of Henley's song. Along with working on the follow-up to 2014's No Fixed Address, Nickelback will embark on a European tour that begins in September and stretches throughout October.

"Dirty Laundry" became one of Henley's biggest hits and famously skewered the news media for its crass, tabloid tactics (at concert in recent years, he'd dedicate the song to Rupert Murdoch and Bill O'Reilly). Specifically, Henley was upset about the coverage surrounding the deaths of John Belushi and Natalie Wood.
