The Good:
Great magazine, and fun to read on my new Kindle Fire. You can choose between page layout and text only, although I prefer the page layout as it looks just like the physical magazine.

The Bad:
My biggest issue with this eMagazine is that you're simply getting a digital copy without any extra content or interactive features, and yet you're paying almost double for a year's worth of the magazine (the physical magazine is roughly $19 per year and at $2.99 per month the kindle version comes out to almost $36 per year).

The Bottom Line:
If the price were at least close to being the same as a physical subscription I would give this 4 stars, but paying more money to simply have a digital version of a magazine doesn't seem worth while.

UPDATE: After checking out Wired Magazine's app, I have to say that this is the way Rolling Stone should approach the eMagazine version of their publication. I agree with the other reviewers that it's annoying that you have to also have a print subscription (sort of defeating the purpose of the digital version), but the application itself and the layout of the Wired eMagazine is awesome. Interactive content, videos, pages built for the Kindle Fire's screen size, etc. So, if you're reading this Jann Wenner, make a Rolling Stone APP and model it after the Wired APP.

ridiculous that the print edition costs less per year than the Kindle version. hey i'd pay for the year at the same $20 the magazine costs me via snail mail...another missed opportunity for the Kindle and greedy publishers...

While I don't like the fact that the Kindle version is higher priced than the print version, I subscribe to Kindle Magazines for the convenience of not having to carry around a bunch of paper like some kind of cave man. Rolling Stone is one of the few magazines that will take the time to research complex issues like Wall Street corruption and the war in Afghanistan . While the editorial slant is decidedly liberal, with too much fawning over Obama, I appreciate the perspective and the great music and entertainment coverage.

ya know, i love this magazine. I get the print copy delievered for years now and my fiancé always takes it. I'd love to have it on my android tablet but alas, not available. very frustrating! I'd be willing to pay the $$$ every month if they would open it up.

Tell you the truth first time I ever bought rolling stone downloaded to my kindle. Being from the Boston area wanted to see what was written about one of the bombers that everyone was angry about. To tell you the truth I thought it was a good article, did not make anyone out to be a rock star....not sure if I will ever buy rolling stone again but this issue I give 4 stars

Although I give this edition 3 stars for the content, I'm really giving it 1 star for the lack of compatibility. Honestly, how can it not be available on the basic Kindle and yet still be considered a "Kindle Edition." I'm clearly willing to forgo the presentation of color to read the content. Lame, Wenner.

There are many things in Rolling Stone that I don't read. But the political stuff is what I read it for. The articles are written by a newer generation that have a different point of view and who tell it like it is. Matt Taibbi is one of my favs. The article on the Success of Obamacare was perfect. If you ever turn on FOX, even for a fly by, you can hear them forever trying to take a chunk out of Affordable Health for all. This article debunked the myths that FOX insists on and offers the reality of what is really working.
