‘Wonder Woman’ Director Patty Jenkins Responds to Claim That Film is ‘A Mess’

2 hours ago | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins responded to an open letter allegedly written by a former Warner Bros. employee that slammed the production company for releasing an array of subpar superhero movies, ranging from 2013’s “Man of Steel” to this month’s “Suicide Squad.” The letter then proceeded to allude that “Wonder Woman” would be a “mess.”

“Maybe Wonder Woman wouldn’t be such a mess,” the letter states. “Don’t try to hide behind the great trailer. People inside are already confirming it’s another mess. It is almost impressive how you keep rewarding the same producers and executives for making the same mistakes, over and over.”

Although the identity of the letter’s author remains a mystery, Jenkins was less-than-pleased. She released a string of tweets on Friday responding to the scathing words.

Woah, just saw this press about Ww having problems. Are they serious? This is some made up bs right here. »

Thomas Gibson: The Prior Incidents That Led to His ‘Criminal Minds’ Firing

3 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

It was the third strike in five years that led to Thomas Gibson’s ouster from “Criminal Minds” on Friday, according to multiple industry sources with knowledge of the situation.

The actor was fired by “Criminal Minds” producers ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios following an internal investigation of an on-set fight in which Gibson allegedly kicked writer-producer Virgil Williams during production of an episode that Gibson was directing.

The incident that took place about two weeks ago was the last straw for the studios, after two prior flare-ups. In January 2013, Gibson pleaded no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving after being arrested on suspicion of DUI. And in December 2010, he allegedly shoved “Criminal Minds” assistant director Ian Woolf during a late-night location shoot. That led the production studios to mandate that Gibson take eight hours of anger management classes.

Gibson, according to multiple sources, was a mercurial personality on set who could be personable and friendly at »

‘Kubo and the Two Strings’ Review: Laika’s Latest Stuns Visually If Not Narratively

One of cinema’s first great visionaries was George Méliès, a French magician who, where others saw a passing fad, realized the movie camera’s potential to whisk viewers away to an almost infinite range of wondrous places, from Earth’s uncharted jungles all the way to the moon. George Méliès would have loved “Kubo and the Two Strings.” Set in a fantastical ancient Japan and directed by Travis Knight, “Kubo” follows the titular young boy (voiced by Art Parkinson) on a quest to procure the enchanted armor that is his only protection against the evil Moon King (Ralph Fiennes). Lawyers: Brendan Dassey of ‘Making a Murderer’ Could Sue for Millions

Brendan Dassey, the “Making a Murder” subject whose conviction was overturned by a federal judge, could sue police or even his own lawyer for millions of dollars, legal experts say. But winning won’t be easy. “He could sue his lawyer for putting him in the hands of his investigators, who just ripped him a new one,” Steve Cron, a veteran criminal defense attorney and Pepperdine University law professor, told TheWrap. He said Len Kachinsky, Dassey’s original attorney, had committed what amounted to “malpractice.” Asked how much Dassey could stand to make should he sue, Cron said, “What is spending 10 years in prison worth? »

'Triumph's Summer Election Special 2016': TV Review

Birthed on Late Night with Conan O'Brien as a nuisance for celebrities and civilians and pageant canines alike, Robert Smigel's Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog has seen an interesting evolution into a sitcom star on Adult Swim's The Jack and Triumph Show and, in this election season in which reporting from a cigar chomping, heavily accented Yugoslavian Mountain Hound puppet barely even registers on the scale of absurdity, Triumph has become something of a truth-telling provocateur.
