THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES

io9 reports that a huge “Middle-Earth Limited Collector’s Edition” is on the way, featuring 30 Blu-ray discs worth of footage. It will feature the extended cuts of the films in both the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogies. This includes An Unexpected Journey, The Desolation of Smaug, The Battle of the Five Armies, Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and Return of the King. It will also contain all previously released behind-the-scenes features that were in past releases.

Each film in the set will be wrapped in a faux-leather book case which sit on a wooden shelf, which is described as “crafted from solid wood with a design selected by Peter Jackson.” It will also come with a recreation of the Red Book of Westmarch (the book that Bilbo and Frodo wrote the story in), which features pages of official concept art and recreations of concept art by Alan Lee and John Howe. Amazon removed the initial listing but when it first went up it had an $800 price.
