The event also will have a headliner.

NJSFC president Joe Piro announced Tuesday night at Ramapo High School that first-year Rutgers head football coach Chris Ash would be on hand during the proceedings to talk about the Scarlet Knights program. The event will begin at 6 p.m.

Piro was speaking before a meeting of NJSFC coaches to go over rule changes for the upcoming football season. He lauded the development of the first-year league, which is an amalgam of the Big North Conference, the Super Essex Conference, Hudson County Interscholastic Athletic Association and the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference.

At 113 teams, and 19 separate divisions, the league is the biggest high school football-only grouping in America.

“We have the tiger by the tail,” said Piro on Tuesday night. “We are the biggest and we want to be the best.”
