Duncan Jones shares his frustrations with Warcraft, rules out a director’s cut

Despite proving a hit in China, Warcraft didn’t quite manage to click with the majority of Western audiences, and failed to replicate the success of its video game counterpart, grossing just $213 million outside of the Middle Kingdom and seemingly failing to provide the lucrative franchise launchpad that its hopeful “The Beginning” subtitle suggested. During an interview with Thrillist, director Duncan Jones has reflected on the fantasy epic, discussing his frustrations with the final film:

“Trying to make a movie like Warcraft, and trying to do it in a unique way… you get killed by a death of 1,000 cuts. Not just editing cuts. It’s little changes that seem really innocuous. As a filmmaker the only way that I understand how to make a film is holistically. Every choice that I make, whether it is story or character or costume, all works together. When you make a little change it »

Joe adopted Barry fifteen years ago after Barry’s mother was murdered and Barry’s father, Henry Allen, received a life sentence for the crime – though Barry always maintained that a mysterious “Man in Yellow” was responsible. Then the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator exploded, creating a dark matter lightning storm that struck Barry, bestowing him with superspeed and making him the fastest man alive. »

Comic Book Review – Action Comics #962

Tony Black reviews Action Comics #962…

“Path to Doom” part six! In the epic conclusion, the mystery of Black Zero deepens just as the Man of Steel makes a fateful decision that may stop Doomsday, but also risks the lives of those he loves most.

Dan Jurgens’ epic run of Action Comics, ‘Path of Doom’, reaches a titanic conclusion in this sixth issue, in which the battle between Superman and Doomsday finally builds to an end that, perhaps, you won’t necessarily have seen coming. Jurgens has managed to balance massive, city-destroying spectacle with plenty of character moments across Superman’s battle and that’s no less in evidence here, as the Man of Steel struggles to defeat his foe and ensure the safety of wife Lois & son Jon at the same time. Stephen Segovia’s art manages to convey the climactic stage of that battle impressively, with Superman reaching points »

Ian McDiarmid on whether he’ll appear in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

From the moment the Emperor’s Royal Guard were spotted in the teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, there’s been a tonne of speculation about whether we’ll see an appearance from Palpatine – and now thanks to actor Ian McDiarmid, it seems we have our answer.

“Rogue One’s on its way, [and it’s set] when I was in charge of things – I mean the Emperor, not me,” said McDiarmid at the Amsterdam Comic Con (via Star Wars News Net). “I am not featured in [the movie] myself, but I understand that Darth Vader may be making an appearance.”

So, there you have it… The Emperor won’t be in Rogue One – and we now officially have no idea why those Royal Guards are there. Unless of course this is misdirection on McDiarmid’s part, or – god forbid – Lucasfilm has decided to recast the role.

Will you be disappointed if Palpatine is absent from Rogue One? »
