SPRINGVILLE—It is with a heavy heart that we at the Springville Journal have to announce the closing of our office, and Community Papers of Western New York. We were notified this afternoon that effective today, July 25, at 5 p.m. the Springville Journal will no longer be published.
Our staff has had an absolute blast working with the communities in Springville, Ashford, Boston and the surrounding areas. The relationships we’ve formed with members of the community have helped us become better journalists, and better people. No one in our coverage area will be forgotten by Max, Sandy or myself.
Thank-you for allowing us into your homes, your businesses and your lives. It’s been a pleasure.
So sad. The Springville Journal is and has been a very important part of several communities. I hope there is a way that it can be reopened.
This is so sad. This is how I keep up with what is going on in Springville. Have been subscribing to The Journal for over twenty years. I for one will miss it tremendously. Hopefully some how it can be reopened.
this is sad news indeed….. having a paper published in this town since the 1860s and now it will not be ours anymore…. thank you for all that you have done in the past to assist us and support us…. Sorry to know that it will be no more….
We were never Springville-West Valley (ers) born here. Yet, we moving here a few years ago, the Journal always brought a sense of “Mayberry” like feel and comfort. We shall truly miss its publication.
So sad, we came to love the Journal.
OMG…. NOOOO!! The Journal has been my weekly “letter from home” for over 46 years! It has followed us from Long Beach, California to Niantic , Connecticut and here in Ontario, New York since moving out of Springville in 1970. Will it still be available as an online newspaper? I hope so, it’s my way of staying in touch with Springville!!
I am sorry we will be loosing the Springville Journal. I feel bad for those that will be loosing their jobs because of this closing. Hopefully these workers can find a way to move on. This paper is how most local people know when and where local events will be held. Also a lot of businesses use this paper to send their weekly ads with.
Very sad and sorry to hear this ! I worked at H & K publications in 1987. It won’t be the same. Everyone read the journal . It was very informational in so many aspects. It will be different without it. I know I will miss reading it.
I am saddened to hear about the Springville Journal will not be published any longer. I have not lived in West Valley for over 14 years, but I still enjoyed reading the Journal to keep up with what is happening around West Valley and Springville.
Oh no. I so enjoy the articles and keeping up on what’s going on in Springville from here in Indiana. You will be missed.
So sorry to see this. I hope in some small way I have made our small town paper a forever to remember in my book “The House on Woodside Road.” Springvill Journal and the staff played a large part in my story and i’m very sad to see it go.
