EAST OTTO—The East Otto Historical Museum is open during the months of July and August on Sundays from 1-3 p.m. or by appointment calling Historian Michelle Gogel at 257-3337.

The museum houses household items, small farm tools, town’s original wooden voting booths,  scrap books and many items all relating to the town of East Otto.

The museum is housed in one of the older buildings in East Otto. It was constructed in 1834 as a Baptist Church and was located on the eastern part of the town. Later it was moved to the corners, which is now referred to as the center of town. Once located at the corners, it was used for meetings and voting and, when needed, church services and classrooms.

In 1972 the building became the home of the Historical Museum after the town hall was moved to its present location of East Otto-Springville Road.

Former historian, the late Gladys Laing for whom the museum is dedicated, was instrumental in the opening of the museum.

The museum is located on Reed Hill Road in the center of town and next to the fire department.
