The Buzz: Undoubtedly, the negative reaction to Ghostbusters' all-female principal cast will be one of the top entertainment news stories of the year, even if you (like us) don't know anyone who is outwardly against the crew comprised of Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon. Who are these haters? Do they just live inside the internet? Hopefully the movie will be full of scares and laughs, and its worldwide box office haul will quell any apparent resistance to this revitalized franchise.

A U.S. Customs official uncovers a money laundering scheme involving Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar.

The Buzz: It would be easy to boil this story down to "Walter White takes on Pablo Escobar," but that shortcut would take away from the remarkable job Bryan Cranston has done in living up to the legacy of "Breaking Bad." From what we understand, it would also not give enough credit to the latest movie from director Brad Furman (The Lincoln Lawyer), who finds plenty of ways to distinguish this true-life take on the war against the Medellín cartel.

Set in the 1930s, a young Bronx native moves to Hollywood where he falls in love with the secretary of his powerful uncle, an agent to the stars. After returning to New York he is swept up in the vibrant world of high society nightclub life.

The Buzz: After the box-office disappointment that was Hail, Caesar!, let's see if older audiences are in the mood for Woody Allen's take on a period Hollywood comedy. Reportedly beautiful to look act, acting-wise, we hear Kristen Stewart walks away with the film (unsurprisingly). Though the real winner might be Blake Lively, who turns in a supporting role here while her thriller The Shallows becomes the sleeper hit of the season.

In an emotionless utopia, two people fall in love when they regain their feelings from a mysterious disease, causing tensions between them and their society.
Director:

The Buzz: We felt a chill the first time we watched the Equals trailer but were intrigued by the world Drake Doremus had built; unfortunately, the director has earned the worst reviews of his career for the ideas behind an otherwise gorgeously made and well acted future-set love story. Perhaps it's best to say this is for Kristen Stewart completists only.

A super-powered boy helps a wheelchair-bound policeman in his attempt to bring down a mob kingpin.

The Buzz: Oscar-nominated filmmakers Loup Felicioli & Alain Gagnol (A Cat in Paris) turned to classic gangster tales from the 1940s and 50s for their latest work.

When twelve ragtag teammates set out to play what should be a meaningless summer intramural baseball game, it ends up becoming the most important game of their lives.
Director:

The Buzz: With its baseball premise and Tyler Hoechlin in its cast, this comedy could be seen as the dumber younger brother of Everybody Wants Some!!. It might also be funnier than Richard Linklater's most recent work, which left us underwhelmed, personally. Kudos to writer/director/co-star Joseph Mazzello for gathering up this team of TV star hunks.

When her little brother, Martin, experiences the same events that once tested her sanity, Rebecca works to unlock the truth behind the terror, which brings her face to face with an entity that has an attachment to their mother, Sophie.

The Buzz: A lot of the same folks who have thrilled horror fans with The Conjuring movies are working behind the scenes here to concoct another breakout hit. We're most interested to see Maria Bello in a genre role and we think her character will provide the ultimate frights.

Edina and Patsy are still oozing glitz and glamor, living the high life they are accustomed to; shopping, drinking and clubbing their way around London's trendiest hot-spots. Blamed for a major incident at an uber fashionable launch party, they become entangled in a media storm and are relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi. Fleeing penniless to the glamorous playground of the super-rich, the French Riviera, they hatch a plan to make their escape permanent and live the high life forever more!

The Buzz: Sweetie, baby, darling ... Patsy and Edina are back! The British TV comedy about two perpetually drunk fashionistas was the toast of the 1990s in England and had a major cult following in the U.S. Now the duo are getting their own movie. Based on the trailer, the characters' trademark dark humor has survived the passage of time, though Patsy and Edina still seemed determined to party like its 1999. - Sara

A man named Nirmal loses his family in a man-made disaster, he starts the journey of seeking answers asking for accountability which urges him to take revenge.

The Buzz: Irrfan Khan has been getting himself into hot water while promoting this politically charged revenge thriller; he's upset Muslim clerics with his criticism of the ways in which some people observe the end of Ramadan -- namely, the practice of animal sacrifice. The controversy sprung up soon after the movie's release date was pushed out a month for some last minute fixes.

When a member of a popular New York City improv troupe gets a huge break, the rest of the group - all best friends - start to realize that not everyone is going to make it after all.
Director:
Watch Trailer

The Buzz: Who hasn't at one point or another mused about hitting it big as a comedian on "Saturday Night Live"? This film explores what happens to an improv group when comedy success comes to a member of the troupe in the form of a big break on a weekend TV show. Written and directed by the very funny Mike Birbiglia, this movie seeks to do more than just serve up additional hackneyed improv-as-real-life metaphors. It exposes the perils of transitioning into your 30s, the challenge of being funny both on stage and off, and the need to (re)define success as a very personal matter. - Bret

The Buzz: Dinesh D'Souza averages a left-wing baiting documentary every two years thus far and his latest, which has its targets set squarely on Hillary Clinton, opens in conjunction with the GOP Convention, which threatens to generate headlines and attention of its own.
