USA network has renewed “Chrisley Knows Best” for a fifth season, the cable channel announced Thursday. In addition, the network is adding another six episodes to the series’ season-four order, bringing it to 26 episodes.

The first half of “Chrisley Knows Best” season four premiered March 18 and ended June 14. In Nielsen live-plus-seven data, that run hit series highs in viewers ages 18-49, averaging 1.4 million, up 3% from season three. It also hit know series records in adults 25-54 with 1.5 million and adults 18-34 with 703,000. Following a wealth Atlanta man and his family, “Chrisley Knows Best” is the No. 1 cable unscripted show in its timeslot so far this year in all of those demos.

The second half of season four will premiere this fall. The first of season five’s 12 episodes is set to premiere in 2017.

Having struck down plans hatched by Vivendi’s Canal Plus to control sports broadcasting rights in France, the country’s competition authority confirmed Thursday it would consider easing the Canal Plus anti-trust regs in a yearlong regulatory review.

Though it did not go into detail, the announcement will at least spark a glimmer of hope at Vivendi that it can improve the performance of its premium pay TV service in France, Canal Plus, six of whose channels currently bleed collective red ink.

That marks something of  a volte-face. On June 9, Bruno Lasserre, president of France’s antitrust board, blocked a five-year deal between Vivendi’s Canal Plus and Qatar-controlled BeIN Sports giving Canal Plus distribution rights to BeIN’s sports rights in a deal initially said to be worth €1.7 billion ($1.8 billion).

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Tom Payne, Austin Amelio and Xander Berkeley have been promoted to series regulars for Season 7 of “The Walking Dead,” Variety has confirmed. The four additions to the full-time cast bring the show’s roster to 20 series regulars, after killing off two last season — Tovah Feldshuh’s Deanna and Alexandra Breckenridge’s Jessie. Morgan’s villainous Negan was introduced in the Season 6 finale, and is set to be a major player in the upcoming story.
