Michael Keaton‘s “The Founder” has been pushed from an August release to December — as The Weinstein Company’s film about golden arches is seeking golden trophies. The story of Ray Kroc, the salesman who turned McDonald’s into a massive franchise and effectively cut out its founders, was set to open August 5. It moves to December 16, TheWrap has learned, for a qualifying Oscar run. The Weinsteins will take the movie wide in January and focus on Keaton as a Best Actor frontrunner, an individual with knowledge of the campaign plans told TheWrap.
