I dont see why that cant be done. Its pretty much like sheet film with holsters, except each one houses a sensor which is sealed witha dark plate. You ould just connect cabling to it from the camera and voila!

Hence my estimation of resolution as about 30mp not 40. I'll know once I get the camera, which hopefully won't be long.

The EM5II was considerably better. Not necessarily any more detail per se but the colour was FAR less problematic. Therefore better pixel detail overall.

Problem is where to use 40mp mode with 300mm(600mm eq) lens.
It is prety much "birds/sport treritory" and they dont stay still long enough for few shots required.

Well, if you have a situation where that combo works, the tripod doesn't need to be as heavy as with a larger camera and you don't need a remote release either as Oly have a very clever shutter delay function which eliminates shutter shock. And no mirror slap to worry about at all! It's no big deal, the one caveat is the subject doesn't move for one second. Soon, that will be one sixtieth of a second. For moving subjects, you still have normal resolution, which is totally adequate for nearly every use anyway. You're not forced to use high res...

I think RichRMA was more making a point that effective reach is a product of pixel count and equivalent focal length together and was using 300mm as an example. I just pointed out his assertion that the bigger sensor produced higher apparent sharpness wasn't quite right in this case.

And if that was not an f/8 equivalent lens, maybe you did not have to carry a tripod in the first place.

What?? It's an f4 lens which has the ADVANTAGE of better depth of field at a given aperture (you'd know if you shot long!). Two stops quicker shutter at a given depth of field.

And no shutter shock - Olympus have that sorted.

Yeah, sure. You cannot stop down an FF lens because there is a law against it.

BTW, the physical aperture is 75mm, the same as that of an 600/8 lens.

Will the 8mm f/1,8 be a PRO lens?

I hope it will, so it will be weather sealed.

Certified Pro lens in their roadmap with weather-sealing and AF.

I've often been tempted by the Samyang lens or even the bodycap one, but assuming this 8mm is below one grand, i'd probably go for This one. F1.8 guarantees indoor use for me and at that speed, there must be some dof to play with.

But the 12-40mm is a better lens than the 12-60 was. But Olympus could still release one, with a price-point around $500.00, which is what the 12-50 originally cost.

The 12-40mm can't be better than the 12-60mm, because its tele end is only 40mm. It should be at least 50mm to cover the "portrait" FL. But 60mm would be better, to make sure that the performance at 50mm is good enough.

I always found the "standard" 24-70mm eq zoom range to be way too limiting. The popularity of the 24-1xx lenses tells me that I'm not alone.

How about a 7-150 F2.8 so I won't have to buy and carry 3 lenses ? Just kidding'. I would have really liked to see a much more compact in the likes of a 7-21mm F4 or thereabouts.

There's a Lumix 7-14 f4. It's been out for like 3 years. Many are offering to sell theirs in anticipation for the Olympus lens.

I honestly liked accessing functions from the Super Control Panel in the old diminutive 4/3rds E-410. Once you got good at it, it was very fast.

I do think there's room for a new kind of Olympus, one without all the buttons, maybe even no no mode dial, and easy shutter speed, iso and aperture adjustment. You could still hide one programmable button out of the way, perhaps, and you still have to have the okay/directional buttons for the menu. Be a good time to redesign parts of the menu too.

I like to see a shutter speed dial on TOP of the camera instead on menus. Like at least concentric to those 2 on the top.
