Olivia Munn Joins The Festivities In Ensemble Comedy Office Christmas Party

17 March 2016 11:34 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Dreamworks is accumulating a terrific cast for its upcoming ensemble comedy Office Christmas Party. As the title implies, the film revolves around one of the most joyous times of the year. No, not December 25 – the obligatory office party beforehand. Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman signed on to topline the movie back when it was first announced, so we can assume that they’ll be playing a couple of co-workers who, I don’t know, find love at Christmas?

We don’t know officially, of course, that’s just an educated guess. But we do know who’s set to join them for this festive frolic; Deadpool‘s T.J. Miller, GhostbustersKate McKinnon, and The Interview‘s Randall Park.

A fresh report from Variety confirms another name now set to join them – Olivia Munn is currently ironing out details to appear alongside that starry cast. Personally, I’m excited as »

Sausage Party Review [Work In Progress SXSW 2016]

15 March 2016 9:32 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Last night, at 9:30, on a Monday, South By Southwest attendees were treated to a gratuitous showing of food porn that no one was ready for (and no, I’m not talking about my Instagram page). As a special treat, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg showed a very raw, Very unfinished Sausage Party cut to hungry audiences, who ate it up. The last thirty minutes alone will leave animated lovers feeling dirty, shocked and ashamed (in a good way?), as stoner humor mixes with existential insanity in ways that lampoon race, and broach religious understanding. How do you make a movie about food wanting to fuck have a weighty, Pixar-heavy undertone (Dixar filmmaking, as the film jokes)? Just ask Rogen and Goldberg (and their co-writers, Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir).

Reviewing the film seems a bit hasty, given its harsh In Progress status, but welcome to the internet. We’re »

'Sausage Party' Trailer: Seth Rogen's R-Rated Animated Pixar Spoof

15 March 2016 8:04 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Hilarious! Horrifying! Unbelievable! It's finally here. Watch if you dare, this sneak peek is truly terrifying for vegans and meat lovers, both. Sausage Party is the ever first R-rated CG animated movie. It is about one sausage leading a group of supermarket products on a quest to discover the truth about their existence. And what really happens when they become chosen to leave the grocery store.

This Pixar spoof is from writers/producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and while it might look like it's headed for an Nc-17 rating, the creators assured advanced audiences last night at SXSW that it has already been awarded an R rating by the MPAA. It is directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon. And it is definitely not for children, so keep them far, far away.

Seth Rogen headlines this adventure as a hotdog just looking to get laid inside a delicious bun. »

DreamWorks Ensemble Comedy Office Christmas Party Makes Room For Randall Park

8 March 2016 1:52 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Will Speck and Josh Gordon’s ensemble comedy Office Christmas Party has made room for one more today, with The Hollywood Reporter bringing word that The Interview star Randall Park has been added to DreamWorks’ workforce.

Centering on a festive party gone awry, Park – who also had roles in Trainwreck, Neighbors and ABC’s adorned comedy Fresh off the Boat – will star opposite Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman, Deadpool‘s T.J. Miller and Kate McKinnon. With production not set to begin until spring of this year, expect one or more of that cast to be bringing a plus-one.

Featuring a script produced by Lee Eisenberg, Gene Stupnitsky and Laura Solon, Office Christmas Party was first pitched to DreamWorks six years ago, and only started to gain momentum when Speck and Gordon (Blades of Glory) came aboard. At the time, Scott Stuber and Guymon Casady were behind the concept and it’s »

Film Review: Propaganda Game

24 February 2016 3:22 AM, PST | CineVue | See recent CineVue news »

★★★☆☆ The Hermit Kingdom is a nickname inspired by North Korea's secrecy and withdrawal from the wider world. The last remaining stronghold of Communism, it is a country reviled and lampooned in the West, where its mystery inspires ridicule and anxiety in equal measure. Last year, threats were made against cinemas intended to screen Seth Rogen and James Franco's comedy The Interview - in which they plot to assassinate the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un. Barrack Obama responded by asking that if that was the reaction to satire, what would they do when they saw a documentary they didn't like? Which is an interesting question to bear in mind when watching The Propaganda Game, Spanish director Alva Longoria's state-sanctioned video diary of his week in Pyongyang that is as fascinating as it is superficial.

Justin Theroux Wrote Zoolander 2, Plus 15 More Actors You Didn't Know Are Also Screenwriters

"That Justin Theroux guy - where do I know him from?" Depending on whom you ask, you could get a great many answers. Of course, he's the husband of Jennifer Aniston, but he's had a string of notable acting roles too. He could be that guy from The Leftovers, the actor who played the hapless director character in Mulholland Drive, Leslie Knope's short-lived boyfriend on Parks and Recreation, or even the bad guy from Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. However, Theroux is also a screenwriter, and he's credited with a handful of major films that casual movie-goers might not associate with him. »

Sundance Review: Kim Jong-Il Kidnaps A Filmmaking Couple In Documentary ‘The Lovers And The Despot’

27 January 2016 7:42 AM, PST | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

We’re a little over a year from the semi-aborted release of “The Interview,” Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s comedy that passed almost instantly into legend when (supposedly) North Korean hackers attacked the film’s backers Sony in retribution for the film’s satirical portrait, and fictional killing of, the country’s dictatorial leader Kim Jong-Un. So it’s perhaps a little surprising to see another movie premiering at Sundance that hits similar territory: again focusing on a North Korean leader (Kim’s late father Kim Jong-Il) and his infatuation with celebrity, touched with some espionage and dark humor. The difference this time is that Rob Cannan and Ross Adam’s film “The Lovers And The Despot” tells an entirely true story. David Simon’s porn drama The Deuce gets a series order from HBO

HBO has given a series pickup to The Deuce, a new drama from David Simon (The Wire), George Pelecanos (Treme) and Richard Price (The Color of Money), which is set to star James Franco (The Interview) and Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Dark Knight).

The Deuce follows the story of the legalization and subsequent rise of the porn industry in New York from the early 1970s through the mid-1980s, exploring the rough-and-tumble world that existed in midtown Manhattan until the rise of HIV, the violence of the cocaine epidemic and the renewed real estate market all ended the bawdy turbulence.”

The Deuce is one of two projects from Simon in the works at HBO, with the second a political drama set on Capitol Hill.
