Firstly, well done to Sony for releasing such great lenses on this system. They have build a serious range now and to my eyes are only lacking a few faster primes. The build quality is frankly ridiculously good in the new GM lenses, seriously impressed with those and I can kinda see where all the money goes.

However after using the 85mm F1.4 and the 24-70mm F2.8, I was just left so uninspired by them, yep they sure were very sharp and as mentioned build like tanks... But (and I never understood this comment before) there was just no character in the images at all, very clinical, technically great but I didnt enjoy the experience at all. Which is good, as in the UK they are £3200 for both.... So its saved me an absolute packet.

The 85 F1.4 in particular was just meh, the AF performance was poor, extremely slow compared to the 55mm. A great studio lens though... But certainly not a walkaround lens, Batis far superior for that purpose.

Anyway semi rant over, and please dont get me wrong these arent bad lenses. But they dont inspire me whatsoever. I'll keep what I have and hope for Sony to release a 135 F2 or 1.8 soon : )

Until then I will be investing into some MF Zeiss lenses. Which does it for me

I never understood before when people on here sais what I'm about to say but now I get it...

We can't really help or comment much on the experience without any context. What body were you using, what kind of lighting, was it a demo on a camera store...what ?
