Outside is dangerous…inside is terrifying in the heart-pounding new thriller from producer J.J. Abrams. After a catastrophic car crash, a young woman (Mary Elizabeth Winstead, A Good Day to Die Hard) wakes up in a survivalist's (John Goodman, Argo) underground bunker. He claims to have saved her from an apocalyptic attack that has left the outside world uninhabitable. But, as his increasingly suspicious actions lead her to question his motives, she'll have to escape in order to discover the truth.

10 Cloverfield Lane alternates moods seamlessly, ratcheting tension to the breaking point and then deflating it with black humor.
J. R. Jones
Don't give away the secret of this J.J. Abrams production, which begins as one sort of movie before turning into another sort of movie but manages to be continuously bad.
Richard Brody
Trachtenberg ... smothers the action in showy camera work and an overly insistent music score. But, as the mystery unravels, he reveals flashes of a giddily hyperbolic pop imagination.

Put this down, close this tab, go to your local multiplex and just buy a ticket. Even better if you haven't seen more than a teaser trailer. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, proceed directly to the theater.
Amy Nicholson
Great publicity, dumb move. The title alone is a spoiler.

10 Cloverfield Lane does what it needs to do: make you sit and squirm and want very badly to know. It has the appeal of suspense radio plays from the '30s and '40s and even a touch of Orson Welles's most infamous Mercury Theater broadcast.

The horrors of that bunker far outweigh anything that could be waiting for them outside. Sometimes what is right in front of you is plenty terrifying enough.

John goodmans performance alone is reason enough to watch. I was also a fan of the story and definitely understood the tie in to Cloverfield. I just didn't like the ending... killed it for me at the very end... not to give it away but if that's all it takes to destroy an alien battleship then I think we should be A ok.
Very entertaining movie, Goodman always does a fine job in pretty much everything he gets involved in. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is so damn hot and you literally can't take your eyes off of her. Some nice twists and supposedly another sequel that is coming in the future will tie this whole Cloverfield story line together so definitely give this movie a shot..
Absolutely intriguing The movie was a suspenseful psychological thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. If you can notice small details and like to get invested in characters, you'll love this movie as much as I did. By the beginning you are immediately thrusted into this slow, yet also fast, rollercoaster ride of distrust. You don't know who to trust and what to think throughout the entire film.
Great acting, especial from Goodman/Badman??? That is the question viewers should be thinking during this movie; there are different scenarios that take place to throw this movie in different directions. I was wondering the whole time, does he have good intentions or bad intentions? Was he lying about the attack outside of his bunker? What about the other guy who was also held "captive"? Different questions arise as the story progresses and keeps you in an awe state of mind. I had no idea what to expect next during my experience watching my first Cloverfield movie and that is what makes this a great mystery/thriller! I have heard about the previous Cloverfield movie, so I knew what to expect some time during the film, but that means nothing thanks to the way this movie has been delivered. Those of you, whether you have seen Cloverfield or not, watch this cause mostly everything ends up making sense in the end. I still have a few unanswered questions about this and plan on checking IMDB to find out what I didn't get watching the first time around.
Hmm, .. "90 rating?!" I almost felt let down at the end of the movie after finding out why they were down there. I'm still on the fence; not sure it was that great of a movie. I suppose it's cool that the woman went through some sort of transformation. The story ends on a whimper- unoriginal ending..
Torn between 2 or 3 star rating I was captivated by this film at first. The story is intriguing and well-executed, and John Goodman's performance is excellently uncomfortable. Then the film is destroyed by the terrible campy ending that felt forced and out of place. Less would have been more. The ending unfortunately left me feeling disappointed and underwhelmed. It was a disservice to the weight and power of the actors' performances up to that point.
Great! I personally LOVED this movie. Most of the people down here in the comments are either trolls or all they crave is action. If your looking for action, you're in the wrong place 😂. I loved all the chareters and the movie had me on the edge of my seat. I'm so glad I got to see it in theaters! My only thing I have a problem with is the ending. It didn't feel like it was needed in the movie, or maybe it was too rushed. It's a really good thriller and very intense! A must!
Absolute Gem Would you believe me if i said this movie was about a holocaust survivor who has been tested to become a certified bad ass? Well its not. But this movie is absolute smart, in a bad ass way. From begining to end, so many turns and twists that would squeeze tears from your eyes (just to release pressure)of anyone trying to psychoanalyse. Just remember there are no accidents in this film. Grab someone and bury yourself into this film. Never heard of Trachtenberg, but im sure i will in the future.
Very intense This movie is very well crafted. The acting was spectacular, the story was great and never got boring, and the characters were all believable. My only complaint which is what will prevent me from giving this movie 5 stars is the ending. I won't spoil it but I wanted a bigger and longer ending than the one that I saw. I would a highly recommend that you see this movie. One thing that you must know when seeing this movie is not to expect some action blockbuster. I would rate this movie a 8.5 out of 10.
Edge of your seat thriller not 4 kids 👦 👦 Not gory or very unappropriate but definitely something your kids would be very confused and up at night about... that being said who's good who's bad what's going on what's out there is it all real? No spoiler but only reason it doesn't get at five-star is the ending could've been so much more simple or longer disappointing ending for sure but the movie makes up for it absolutely ...... Great 👍 🎥 film
Intense and satisfying Being a fan of post- apocalyptic movies I really enjoyed this movie. Well acted, well filmed with a whole bunch of unknowns that leave you on the edge. John Goodman's character makes you hate him, feel sorry for him and sympathize with him all at once. love the plot twists and the fact that it wasn't overly gory or filled with foul language. Not for kids, but a great watch for people like me. Worth a watch.
Okay but..... Well, John Goodman was good. Story started off a bit clueless then got to a point where you think you're dealing with an overly cautious crazy person with a underground bunker. That he probably orchestrated all this to replace a daughter and keep her all to himself? So get out right? Then you find out well damn I was probably better off sticking around with the crazy man (JG)? And this noob of a woman is all a sudden Conan the Barbarian warrior going to join the fight of whooping alien a**.
Beautiful Genre Tornado Being a tie-in to Cloverfield was more than enough to get my slightly demented juices flowing. However, this chaotic twist of multiple genres was more than enough to make this film a perfect standalone success! The entire cast, though small, was phenomenal and dynamically compelling. John Goodman played, in my opinion, one of his best roles in a long time. There were several times when I was unsure whether to love his awkwardness or to look for the quickest escape route! A Fantastic volcanic eruption! 👍
As good as I hoped Having seen the first movie (and being one of the few who liked it), I had an idea of what I was getting into. I also like Goodman. The movie is... Unexpected. You find yourself 2nd guessing a lot of opinions. Who is right/wrong, good/bad, un/justified. I found the movie was a great and deep viewpoint on the Cloverfield story. Not much cheese until the end, but a pleasing end would be hard for this brand of movie
A bit of a spoiler I guess So starts of slow and I almost fell asleep but then boom is all you hear. At the end all you can say is you dumb dumb girl and he wanted to do is protect you. I guess do not judge a series of books by it's first book... idk how else to describe it. So not like I thought it would be but still none the less an interesting show. And do not get discouraged by the first bit. Happy hunting or aliening if that would be a word lol.
Great movie and great plot twist Just because this movie was slightly confusing doesn't make it bad. The suspense was amazing and so was the plot line. Deaths come out of no where to suprise the audience. The twist ending only makes it better. If it ended with her escaping and going back to normal it would've been predictable, but since (spoilers) the ending did have aliens it made the movie a lot better and more suprising.
A Good Thrill and mystery puzzle. Although it may seem to have no connection to the predecessor film cloverfield or to "baby clover" All the little easter eggs and references made 10 Cloverfield Lane a new type of sequel I enjoyed. As in JJ Abrams, mystery is the biggest thing. And I that's why I love mystery! I can't wait to see the sequel to this. Mary Winstead did a great performance in this. In the meantime go drink some SLUSHO!
Wow! I still can't decide as to whether or not I liked this movie. At the very least it was interesting and didn't leave me falling asleep in my chair. I think a little more background on the characters wouldn't have been bad, but as it is you're left with hundreds of different scenarios for their background just let your mind run free after the show ends. You're left with a lot of questions and speculations but it's not necessarily a bad thing. I don't want to post any spoilers, so I can't go into the plot.
Great thriller This was great to watch, three character thriller, keeps u wondering who is on whose side.. I heard JJ abrahms came on after it was done... I think they should not have made it a clover field sequel, that part ruined it. More could have been done, but still worth play store half price rental
AAA on a cool mystery This movie treats movie goers very intelligent from start to finish and didn't dumb down, or hold your hand and hand feed the answers to you. I didn't know what exactly was the true story until the ending act which is an absolute treat. Just truly wished it didn't end but continued on.
90 on RT??? Rotten Tomatoes gave this a 90. So I bought it. I just wasn't that impressed. If I redboxed it I wouldn't be that disappointed but not worth the $20... it's a blender of genres that at then end I was like... really? And I am a scifi guy. Spoiler: Note the Scene from War of the Worlds ... ugh.
Ending was rushed...unnecessary. If there are multiple endings on the blu ray release that changes the main one, I'd be a lot happier with this. Goodman is, as always, the best actor in the room..he keeps you guessing not knowing what's next. Then, the letdown. Not worth it, or stop watching when she gets out and leave it ambiguous.
