I know, Roland, but that is software. No in-camera corrections as far as I know. :) This is an interesting thing in lens design, though, where you can make (seemingly) good optics at a reasonable ...

Sigma cameras are not point-and-shoot cameras, no. As tools they are fully up to the task if you know what you are doing. High ISO is a problem, though. Auto correction of distortion/vignetting/CA? ...

I visited your page. Beautiful photographs indeed, and not much of that effect. :)

I know :) The trouble with ND grads is that landscapes usually have topography, and I hate seeing mountain tops, tree tops and other protruding parts darker than the rest. :)

What filters do you really need for digital? Pola is the only filter I ever use, and only to fix unwanted reflex. The results from pola on a UWA is highly unpredictable and uneven.

Absolutely agree! ... and the Foveon images, especially from my SD14, have "something" to them that I do not see from other cameras.

I think sharpness at + .2 is generally high for a Merrill image, and will exaggerate the moire. Try sharpness with a negative value, say -1, and (if necessary) carefully sharpen in your preferred ...

They are 3D models I have designed. Just wishful thinking :D I had an idea of a modular camera, based on a square variant of the Merrill sensor. Front with possibility of shifting DG lenses with ...

What strikes me immediately is the uneven hue with red centre and green edges. This is common with unoriginal optics, but surprising from a Sigma lens. Sharpness looks good, though. :)

You are probably right :) I'm just an old purist. I don't like the 4:1:1 Quattro either :) Lasse

That would be a nice feature, but all geometric corrections, even the tiniest, means resampling the entire image. This is not ideal for the per pixel quality that is (was) Foveon's hallmark. The ...

Would it be possible to have the x3f of this image? It is the first real possibility I have come over to compare the Q and M under identical conditions. I would love to compare the files in ...

Would you mind telling me, or link to your post? Lasse

The correct name is DP13 :)

"My F13-powered DP2s is excellent and is a keeper for now" Do you know if it is only the DP1 or both DP's that use the D13 sensor? (Offset micro prisms.)
-
Yes :) (But for some reason 8 horizontal pixels are gone?) I think I will manage with my SD14 :)

Maybe they can do this in software, but then why not for Bayer images also? To me, the Quattro is a compromise. I don't like that. Why not make the top layer the same as the other two? I even might ...
