Usagi's Memory Is Eternal! A New Rebirth

Yeats in a poem once stated that heroism is a private matter.

This is probably one of the darkest episode arcs I've ever seen and from what has occurred were not entirely sure of anything.

Sailor Moon this time is truly alone so now it's all or nothing. Her first encounter is of course with Marmou/Endymion whom is still under the spell of Beryl. I really like how there is sort of a contrast parallel with the love both Beryl and Usagi have for Marmou.

Beryl loves Marmou only for what he represents and can bring for her which is more power but this is a materialistic love which makes it non genuine, because the thing about power is it's a soulless entity that knows no love which is why it can never stay with anyone because it doesn't love them back.

Usagi's love for Marmou is geinue and true because she loves him for who he is, not whether he's a prince or not it doesn't matter to her. Both have shared so much for each other from their past life to the present.

The conflect is suspenseful because we want Usagi to save Marmou and yet at the same time we're concerned for Usagi's life as we're not sure how or if it's even possible.

Things almost seem hopeless as he then is about to finish her off but then Usagi presents the locket and it plays the melody which is their love song. It was just beautiful as we see this very thing starts to snap him out of it and his memories of his time with Usagi come back, he then touches the object and it we see it then heals his soul. It just goes to show more of why Usagi's love for Marmou is genuine and true as it was the very thing that did save his soul.

And then it comes to a tragic moment as Beryl tries to assassinate both Usagi and Marmou. But Marmou counters by throwing another of his roses with breaks the projectile apart and goes straight toward Beryl's heart. It's sort of a poetic justice for Beryl as she is a person with no love or real love in her heart.

However it gets down to a really sad moment which I'll admit put a tear in my eyes when we see Marmou unfortunates was fatally wounded. The last things they say to each other were just touching and heartbreaking at the same time.

After the final words are said it then comes down to the final conflict, as Beryl grows all powerful Usagi with nothing to lose now has to take one final stand against her. Beryl blasts her but then we see there is a crystal pedestal that has been made and it blossoms and we see Usagi whom is in her moon princess dress. I just thought it was a beautiful touch because it's shows that the person she was in the past and now are one and the same but also shows how much Usagi has truly grown as a person which is why she is spiritually strong.

This one on one isn't just a power struggle but more of a spiritual conflict. We then see as Usagi struggles she then suddenly remembers her friends and what they've said to her, it's then great as we see her friends spirits then come to help her which to me shows they were never truly gone they were always there. And though her love for her friends and their love for her they deliver the final blow.

Beryl loses not just because Usagi and the Senchi together are more powerful but because Beryl lacks the very things Usagi has which are love and friendship. Her pursuit of power gave her nothing but emptiness which is why she fell. But this victory came at a tragic cost as we see afterward we then see after the conflict Usagi dies as she used up the last of her energy from her moon crystal, sacrificing herself for the earth.

At that moment I just broke down and cried knowing despite Earth saved we lost great people. I honestly didn't give a damn that the planet was saved at all, I really didn't feel like anything was saved if people I love are gone. We then see a big light and there is bittersweet tune and a monologue from Usagi. At that moment I was thinking, "Please God, it's not fair they all lost so much, they have sacrificed so much, please give them their lives back they never had enough time to live them." Usagi's monologue I'll admit was heart tugging because in a way it wasn't just her own wish but it was our own for our wish for them to live once more. I thought that was beautiful because it just shows how much we really love these characters despite fictional their real in our hearts and minds.

And of course in the end all our prayers are answered as fate/God has giving them all another lease on life, which gave me a good feeling. Though this is a tad bittersweet as they all don't remember each other and we see what happened in the very first episode, which I'll admit is kinda a plot hole.

But despite this plot hole, it didn't bother me much as long as the Senchi, Usagi, Marmou, and Rei are alive that was all that matter to me. Despite not remembering the past I just knew in the present they were all someday and somehow going to find each other once more because that is their destiny, love is destiny.
