Jimmy Kimmel to marry in July

2 hours ago | Monsters and Critics | See recent Monsters and Critics news »

Jimmy Kimmel will marry in July. The talk show host is to tie the knot with fiancée Molly McNearney - a co-head writer on his show 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' - on the weekend of July 4 after proposing to his long-term girlfriend last August, the New York Post reports. The 45-year-old star has sent out save-the-date cards to his family and friends ahead of his nuptials to the blonde beauty, who he has dated since October 2009. He recently said: 'It'll be mostly a family affair, and there will be a Catholic priest officiating ... I'm not that involved with the wedding planning, but I will be there.' Jimmy popped the question to Molly - who he started »

GI Joe: Retaliation tops Us box office

6 hours ago | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

Paramount's decision to delay the film and boost Channing Tatum's role has paid dividends, with audiences flocking to a sequel that outshoots its predecessor

The knives were out in Hollywood for GI Joe: Retaliation back in 2012, when Paramount surprised everyone (including director Jon Chu) by announcing it was putting back the release by nine months from 29 June 2012 to the end of March 2013.

At the time there was the usual Hollywood smokescreen to placate the masses. The official line was that the studio needed more time on the 3D conversion, whereas in fact executives were scrambling to reshoot and expand Channing Tatum's role. Tatum's chemistry with Dwayne Johnson is one of the best things about this actually quite decent sequel to a hideous predecessor (2009's GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra) and test audiences last year were upset when Tatu's character died in the opening minutes.

That's understandable. Tatum »

Forget Retirement, Morrissey’s Ready to Hit the Road Again

13 hours ago | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Morrissey's most recent North American tour didn't really go as planned. There were postponements due to health issues, the hubbub about whether or not the Staples Center would go completely vegetarian for the singer's performance, and a feud with Jimmy Kimmel and the cast of Duck Dynasty. And if things weren't rocky enough, the former Smiths front man was then forced to cancel a huge chunk of the seemingly cursed tour due to continuing "medical reasons." It was all bad enough to make Moz tell a Mexican radio station that he just might have to expedite his planned 2014 retirement. Fortunately for fans of the singer, it looks as if that won't be the case, as he's now gone ahead and announced plans to tour Mexico and South America in June and July, according to official fan site True to You. And, just for the hell of it, and in »

Good afternoon and happy Friday!

Happy birthday to Lucy Lawless, Megan Hilty, Nicole Pacent and Amy Sedaris!

Suze Orman appeared on CNN’s Piers Morgan Live and gave her “compassion” to conservative Ryan Anderson when she should have kicked him in the ass.

Naya Rivera is now on Instagram!

The Jimmy Kimmel Live staff asked random people on Hollywood Blvd. if they are for or against gay marriage in a game called “Pedestrian Question.” Play along and see if you can guess who is for marriage equality.

Lindsay Lohan is at it again. This lady needs a 24-hour chaperon.

Fang bangers (and maybe a few others) will be happy to learn that HBO has announced the premiere date for the new season of True Blood.

The Kardashians are hijacking 'Chelsea Lately'

28 March 2013 2:30 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

The Kardashian family is ready to get their revenge on Chelsea Handler for the years of jokes the late-night comic has made about them. In a move reminiscent of Matt Damon's recent takeover of "Jimmy Kimmel Live," the reality stars will have complete control of "Chelsea Lately" on April 8.

After kicking Handler and her staff out of the building for the night, sisters Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian will be joined by mom Kris Jenner at the round table to discuss Hollywood gossip as only a Kardashian can. The sisters are also set to interview a surprise celebrity guest during the evening. Who's putting money on it being Kanye West?

The stunt does sound slightly like a ripoff of Damon's highly successful take over of "Jkl" on Jan. 24. Will the Kardashian clan be able to reach the same comedic highs? Only time will tell.

Good morning!

Rapper/poet Black Ice recorded his own version of the famous protest song "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" and it's used in a promo for the Angela Davis documentary Free Angela and All Political Prisoners. I can't wait to see this April 5. Until then, the video is pretty awesome.

The New York Times has written a piece on NYC mayoral candidate Christine Quinn on how she can be a little ruthless. Quinn said:

I don’t think being pushy or bitchy or tough, or however you want to characterize it, is a bad thing. New Yorkers want somebody who’s going to get things done. Sometimes I yell, sometimes I raise my voice. I am trying to do it less, because it’s not always attractive. It’s not always the right thing to do.

'Game of Thrones' meets 'Duck Dynasty' in 'Murder Most Fowl'

26 March 2013 3:30 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

According to Jimmy Kimmel, the Lannisters have a "powerful new enemy" in Season 3 of "Game of Thrones": the Robertson family of "Duck Dynasty."

Kimmel had "Game of Thrones" star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as a guest on his show and unveiled a "new scene" from the HBO series' upcoming season. In it, Coster-Waldau's Jaime Lannister fends off the new threat of the Robertsons and their duck legions. Words really can't do the sketch justice, so we'll let the above video do the talking for us.

Joking aside, the Lannisters definitely do have some worthy opponents in "Game of Thrones" Season 3. There's Robb Stark, Stannis Baratheon and Daenerys Targaeryen's armies to worry about, not to mention the Tyrells and the threat of the White Walkers. "Game of Thrones" returns to HBO on March 31 at 9 p.m. Et. »

Leno Halts Barbs At NBC Execs

26 March 2013 11:07 AM, PDT | Studio Briefing - TV News | See recent Studio Briefing - TV News news »

The question of whether NBC plans to replace Jay Leno as host of the Tonight show was left hanging Monday night as Leno, for the first time in a week, failed to bring it up during his monologue. His late-night rivals failed to do so as well, except for David Letterman, who has been silent on the matter since it arose. Like ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel and NBC’s Jimmy Fallon, Letterman barely touched on the subject, saying only that he had received a phone call from a CBS executive asking him if he’d be willing to change his first name to Jimmy. »

Watch: 'Game Of Thrones' Star's Old Sausage Ad

26 March 2013 10:24 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, a.k.a. Jaime Lannister on "Game of Thrones" and the recent star of "Mama," wasn't always a leading man.

On "Jimmy Kimmel Live," Coster-Waldau revealed the worst job he's ever had: a 1998 German sausage commercial.

Though the Danish actor had been denying the commercial for years, he admitted to Kimmel that he was desperate for cash. Coster-Waldau wanted to do more Bard, less beef, but instead, he got to play a man who is granted one last wish before he's killed.

"The last wish was a big bite of sausage," the actor told Kimmel before he revealed the commercial.

But Coster-Waldau is certainly not alone. Check out more famous faces' in pre-success commercials below.

"Game of Thrones" Season 3 premieres on Sunday, March 31 at 9 p.m. Et on HBO.

Kimmel Actually Defends Leno

25 March 2013 2:31 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Jimmy Kimmel has been a fierce critic of "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno for several years, but now that Leno appears to be exiting NBC, Kimmel has softened his attacks. In an interview with Broadcasting & Cable over the weekend, Kimmel defended Leno for an area in which many have attacked him.

When asked about reports that NBC chair Bob Greenblatt and Leno had a terse email exchange over jokes in Leno's monologue at the expense of NBC executives, Kimmel admitted that he felt sympathy for his competitor. "I'm firmly on Jay’s side on that particular subject," Kimmel said.

He continued, "If that did happen -- and I don’t know if it did -- it seems like a very silly email to send. Talk shows have been making fun of their network and network executives for about 40 years now. It shouldn’t have been a surprise to anyone."

Jake Tapper, the new host of CNN’s 4:00 p.m. hour who was designated “the face of the new CNN” by CEO Jeff Zucker, attracted fewer viewers during his first week than the previous face, Wolf Blitzer, according to Nielsen numbers. In fact, Thursday’s episode of The Lead with Jake Tapper, featuring an interview with Jimmy Kimmel (about NBC’s reported plan to remove Jay Leno as host of the Tonight show), drew just 326,000 viewers — nearly half what Blitzer’s The Situation Room was averaging. To hear the media tell it, it's about time NBC kicked Jay Leno to the curb . TV critics hate Leno—you can see it in the way they're covering this newest debacle—but most of the country loves him, Howard Kurtz points out on CNN . Leno has the top-rated 11:30pm show; he even beats Jimmy Kimmel and David Letterman in the 18-to-49 demographic; he jumped back to No. 1 after the first time the network booted him; he's made NBC hundreds of millions; and at 62, he's still four years younger than Johnny Carson was when he retired. EW’s Owen Gleiberman called James Franco “mesmerizing” and “genius” in the role of Alien in Spring Breakers, so it’s no wonder his family is proud of him.

In this new ad for Spring Breakers, which was posted on the movie’s Facebook page, Franco’s adorable grandmother offers her support for the film. Her endorsement over shots of girls in bikinis grabbing guns surely has director Harmony Korine kicking himself for not including her in the movie.

Jay Leno: 'Tonight Show' rumors are NBC's March Madness

Ever since it was first storied that Jay Leno could be leaving "The Tonight Show" at the end of the 2013-14 television season, the rumor mill has gone wild. It's largely speculated that Jimmy Fallon will take over the late night show once Leno leaves and that it will head back to New York when he does, and some people -- like Jimmy Kimmel -- are really excited about the prospect. Leno recently spoke out about the stories and laughed them off, comparing the "who's in, who's out?" rumors to March Madness.

"Are you all excited about March Madness?" Leno asked the audience on his March 21 show. "Are you all into March Madness? People are talking about who's in, who's out, who's gonna be eliminated. And that's just here at NBC. I've never been in the paper this much. It's fantastic."
