I am not a wildlife photographer but wanted to try the X-Pro2 CAF/Tracking on some fast moving subjects so ventured down to one of our local lakes.
I had the 55-200 fitted and set the camera to CAF and Zone focus (9 points within the central square).
Being a novice at this I started by capturing some birds landing on the water and then tried an image of a bird in flight, am I happy..................Wow is all I can say and the combo performed perfectly and any out of focus images were down to me not being quick enough and by using too slow a shutter speed.
These are the images I am happy with and again apologies for being image heavy but I know there is interest in the AFC on this camera.

Good stuff, Ian - it really shows how the X-Pro2 brings out the best in the older lenses. I don't do wildlife per se, but I am keen on using the camera for sports and air shows with the 100-400 so this is very interesting indeed.

Great shots there Ian, the XPro2 does look like a good bit of kit. I want to try my XT1 with a 100-400 to see if I can completely replace my Canon kit, I do a lot of airshows so need to know if it can keep up with fast moving jets, etc. RIAT is coming up in July, its the biggest show of the year with some great jets already booked, F35 and F22, so may have to jump before then.

Thanks Julian, I am waiting to see how the XT2 performs in AFC and if it excels I may be tempted to trade in my airshow combo (Nikon D810+Tamron 150 - 600) for an XT2 + 100 - 400 + 1.4 TC.
I live in the Cotswolds so a colleague and I go to Fairford every year, we have found a site across the other side of the runway from the main stand and the farmer charges a very nominal fee to park and shoot, great venue with all amenities to hand and the display often happens directly overhead so some great opportunities for good photos.
Last year was bad weather to start but did brighten up later and allowed some good photo opportunities, here is a link to last years photos so you have an idea of how close you are to the action (probably shot most at between 300 - 400mm) - 571 Photography: RIAT 2015 - The Friday airshow

I used my X-Pro2 and 55-200 in an indoor shoot of short track speed ice skating. The tracking ability of the camera seemed to be spot on and your images here are excellent. My respect for the camera just goes up every day.

Great news Ross and I am pleased to hear you are having success with the combo, love to see some of the images.
At least two of us are satisfied / delighted with AFC on the X-Pro2.

Hi Ian, sorry for the delay. I am assuming you are talking about Rhimes Farm? We camp at Kempsford and have done for years. We get there Thursday and leave Monday. I have thought about getting over that side so maybe this is the year.

Loving your shots from last year.

Went to The Photography Show at the NEC on Saturday, you could not get anywhere near the X-Pro2 on the Fuji stand, it was rammed. I did manage to grab a leather bound Fuji notebook though ;o)

    Julian,

That's the place, great views of the flying display and cost effective!! I would certainly recommend it as a huge cost saving over main site and no queues!!
Well done on the notebook and good to see Fuji attracting so much attention, they are definitely very gently nibbling at the heels of the big boys and attracting more pros over from full frame!

OK, so completely cocked up, just went to book Kempsford and its completely sold out. Is Rhimes Farm a campsite or is it just a day place? Not sure I want to do 3 days of getting up at 4am to drive down to Fairford, would rather camp somewhere near.

    Hi Julian,

I believe they have another area that is for camping but also seem to remember a couple of Camper vans on the site.

I was at Castle Combe on Saturday for the Drifting event, some good photo opportunities and I shot the whole day using the X-Pro2 + 55-200mm and absolutely delighted with the results.
No evidence of blackout in bursts (set to 3 image burst) and no buffer lockout - add to that the AFC+Zone focussing was spot on and I am one very happy customer!!!
