The Office of Research and Graduate Studies reports to Associate Vice President for Research and Dean Graduate Studies, James E. Quick.
The Office of Research and Graduate Studies (ORGS) is responsible for proposal development and submission, contract negotiation, project closeout, research compliance, and facilitates the internal approval process for proposals and awards. To view the ORGS organization chart, please click here.
In addition to proposal and award administration, the ORGS works with the SMU research community to obtain signatures from authorized officials, provides assistance and training on research compliance areas such as IRB, IACUC, BioSafety, Export Controls, and FCOI. The ORGS works closely with the Office Grant and Contract Accounting (GCA), a Department in the Controller’s Division. GCA manages the financial component of the University’s sponsored projects (externally funded, research, public service, training, and financial aid grants and contracts.
