Thanks for the series of shots from f/1.4 to 16 under similar conditions. Helps to see the effects of lens quality vs. diffraction when focused at infinity - something harder to do within the...

The article says " ('shutter shock') was an issue we encountered on the GX8, which used a motor and spring arrangement in its shutter mechanisms. The new electromagnetic shutter found in the GX8...

Agreed that a single figure that averages the whole lens across the frame at various apertures is too simplistic. But then you almost can't win since I'm sure you've noticed some of the posters he ...

Well not really. Yes you get the same quantity of pixels comprising the image. But my point is that because of the loss in resolution [as a result of each component in the chain having a ...

And that is why these threads aren't so much about pedantry (as someone above has deemed them) but are a genuine effort to educate.

The resolution you get on an image depends not only on the advertised camera sensor spec but among other things the power of the lens, the processing of the raw data, etc. No link in the chain is ...

Canon maybe? :-D Latest technology sensors, especially those made by Sony, the new Nikons, Fuji Panasonic are showing a very wide range of ISO invariance. If you haven't seen this in action, look here:

I upvoted your comment but one can in fact download all those raw converters free for trial, take the free tutorials on how to use them, and compare the results. I did that and came away with LR...

@h2k "I'd love them to have small feet instead, though." The Manfrotto Pro Shoulder Bag 10 has four plastic buttons on the bottom which limits the exposure when setting down on a wet surface to...

Perhaps you don't get that some use metered manual mode to lock the exposure. They will use the very sophisticated (but prone to misinterpretation) meter as a guide and lock in the setting manually ...

I didn't see the issue of 'focus shift' mentioned in the article. Many lenses f/1.8 and faster, focus enough light rays from the periphery at a point in front of the usual focus plane that the...
