Oly 12-40 lens hood fell apart!

I was taking the lens hood off my Oly 12-40 lens and the thing came apart.

The metal retaining ring/cover thingy came off the remaining plastic petal part and one of the release buttons flew off with the teeny tiny little pin that holds it in place.

Luckily I was able to find the pin and put it back together, however, the adhesive for the metal ring seems to have lost it's adhesiveness and it won't attach securely.

It looks like the adhesive is some kind of silicone or a type of glue that can work with fixing the metal ring with the type of plastic (polyprop?) used for the rest.

I'm wondering if I should find a glue that works and fix it myself - I don't want to have to send it in and be charged for repair if possible.

Any suggestions for glue type?

Has this happened to anyone else?

To me it seems Oly's QC isn't what it used to be. For a PRO lens that just shouldn't happen at all with normal use.
