What Is Wrong With These Images ?

The following 3 images were taken by a friend with a Nikon DSLR (?). Apparently he thinks they are good images since he keeps posting this quality and people like them, at least they say they do. I am an old time photographer and might could help him, but don't know how to approach him with the issue. Not only would I like advice as to what is wrong with the images, but also how to help him.....Thanks, Dan

He "likes" mine (not birds) on Facebook, so I feel obligated to "like" his, I am bordering on dishonesty or maybe it is ball faced lying.
