decoding Jason Laniers post processing

Ok so I am a big fan of Jasons work and have learnt a lot about lighting and positioning etc from his youtube videos. Im curious how he gets the finished look on his post images.

Here is an example:

http://static1.squarespace.com/static/528134b9e4b0f7fd724c5770/55e0e938e4b0eea3c349c5e9/55e0e939e4b045a4102729bd/1440803130634/JD3_7732-Edit.jpg?format=1500w

it looks almost HDR but I am not quite sure. Would really like to work out what process hes using to get this look, its something I would really like to aim towards
