Rules for photographing a music festival...

I posted a similar thing last year, so I apologize in advance if folks have read that... I honestly can't remember exactly what I was asking and what the responses were...

Anyway, I'm one of the organizers of a music festival that was started just a few years ago. I happen to be the Art Director of the thing, which means that I'm responsible for creating the branding of the thing, all of the visual materials (web and print... and there's a surprising amount of materials) as well as photographing the event itself. Coming up in August is what will be the third festival. The first year it was pretty much just me doing the photography at the event. Last year a pro (I'm not really a pro, but just a serious enthusiast) volunteered to do some photogahy as well in return for some promotion. In addition to that there were a few photographers who came representing media outlets. The way that the venue is designed means that there's limited places to stand to get good shots, mostly between the audience and the stage. I felt that in the past year there was a few too many folks running around doing the photography, both getting in my way and cramping my style as well as what I felt to be a bit of a distraction to the audience. This third year the event is gathering more steam and I'm thinking that they'll be even more folks covering the event and therefore more photographers... which I'm a little worried about.

What I'm asking here is how should I approach this? I don't really have any kind of guidebook for doing so... We're about to send off an official press release detailing the time, venue, all of the acts and some other details of the upcoming festival. I'm wondering if I'd be breaching any kind of protocol to add some language to this press release saying that festival (meaning me, really) will be happy to share photos with any publication that wants to run a story but that they should refrain from photographing the event themselves? Incidentally, I feel that my own photos are more than good enough to be in any of the publications that would be sending photographers to cover the festival... so I really don't see it as a matter of them having to settle for lesser quality images.

Any thoughts...
