This lens surprised me, even though I knew it's pretty good. My sample is a little soft wide open at 40mm, but tack sharp at any other FL. As was said before, it doesn't have same microcontrast as primes do, but it's stil very very good.

Considering it's price, it's a steal if you're going to shoot in good light. And if (when) you'll buy 2.8 lens, you can always sell the R for almost the same price.
