Justin Lin May Return to Direct The Final 'Fast And Furious' Movie

Justin Lin is a name that's gong to floating around for quite a bit, as the director is behind films spanning from Fast And The Furious to Star Trek. With Stark Trek soon to be released, it'd make sense for Lin to already have an idea of what his next big project is going to be. But Lin isn't the only person who knows what movie he's going to work on, as Vin Diesel knows about it as well. Actually, he's the person causing Lin to take on this next movie.

When talking about who is going to direct the final installment into the Fast And Furious franchise, Vin responded with

"I’m going to bring him back. Whenever we had a day off, even on Thanksgiving, his favorite holiday, it was Justin and me working on how far we could take it. Success comes from 10 years of that mentality. »

Astonishing Ant-Man #8

Click on all images for a larger view.

Story: Nick Spencer Art: Brent Schoonover Colors: Jordan Boyd

Review: Nick Spencer is excellent with witty dialogue, giving us likeable but definitely flawed characters. Astonishing Ant-Man has really kept the vibe from Superior Foes of Spider-Man, including now having the Beetle as supporting cast member. This issue we get some great henchman/bad guy dialogue, as well as a pretty hilarious fight sequence.  Brent Schoonover continues to show how much fun he is having drawing these characters, with Jordan Boyd’s colors making everything pop just right. Everything about the book is ridiculous and fun, and should remain on any readers pull list.

Score: B+

Don't Mess With Earth in New 'Independence Day: Resurgence' TV Spot and Featurette

While Independence Day: Resurgence is a sequel that few fans asked for, the approach they are taking with it is incredibly intriguing. The idea of an alternate present timeline with alien technology is a cool one, and whereas most sequels to big films like this are little more than cash grabs, this at lease seems like a natural continuation of the story.

Independence Day: Resurgence is only about a month away, and while we've had a couple trailers, the studio is now pushing TV spots and featurettes for the film.

You can check out the latest ones below!

"We always knew they were coming back. After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. »

New 'Star Trek Beyond' Trailer Will Drop Tomorrow, According to Simon Pegg

Star Trek is definitely a complicated brand. The series is very much beloved by its fans, but its appeal to the mainstream audience hasn't always been the greatest. Enter J.J. Abrams for the 2009 reboot, and the result was a more mainstream-friendly iteration that some fans felt alienated by it. The second film in the rebooted series, Star Trek Into Darkness, came out and had the sad misfortune of further alienating hardcore series fans and underwhelming mainstream fans.

This put the third film, Star Trek Beyond, in a very interesting place. The first trailer seemed to reach for the mainstream as aggressively as possible. With the Beastie Boys song "Sabotage" blaring throughout the trailer, it felt like they were clearly going for the Guardians Of The Galaxy demographic. But one big question about this is whether or not they'll continue with this marketing direction.

The trailer was widely panned by viewers, »

Comic Book Review: Tank Girl #1

Is the world big enough for 2 Tank Girls?  That is the question series creator Alan Martin will be answering in his new Tank Girl Series.

If you were a fan of the previous Tank Girl comic series then you will not be disappointed.  In the first issue of this new series we are introduced to Art Gallery Owner Magnolia Jones who has acquired the famous Tank owned by Tank Girl. Combined with her boring life and her fascination with Tank Girl she decides to ditch her lavish threads for a more punk lifestyle.  This leaves us with our trio of outlaws Tank Girl, Booga, and Barney out to find a new Tank for their newest escapades.

Alan Martin storyline does a great job going back and forth between Tank Girls and Magnolia story.  The tone of this comic is in line with the previous Tank Girls storyline right down to the language and jokes made. »

Magneto Readies to Go on the Rampage in New 'X-men: Apocalypse' Clip!

I've had my own issues regarding the marketing Fox has given to X-men: Apocalypse. On the whole, it felt a lot like "we're going big" without any real motivations or character focus.

Shame on me.

The final trailer for the film definitely shifted the focus onto the characters, where it belongs, and even our very own Kellvin Chavez -- who has seen the film -- raved repeatedly on how much hear the movie has. You can listen to his mini-review below.

In this latest clip released from Fox, we get to see a bit of that heart on display. While Ian McKellan's Magneto was no slouch, this current iteration of Magneto has gone much further in getting sympathy from this fan. This clip is further proof of how great his character is, and how scary a man with violent tendencies and rock-solid determination can be.

'Sherlock Holmes 3' May Shoot This Fall, More Sequels Teased

About a month ago, Robert Downey Jr. revealed to ShortList that he and director Guy Ritchie were planning on revisiting the Sherlock Holmes franchise very soon. Both previous films performed reasonably well at the box office -- taking in just over a $500 million at the box office each -- yet after the first sequel, the franchise just kind of...disappeared. So is it really coming back?

Well, it turns out that Downey wasn't just giving lip service to the dormant property, as producer Joel Silver has now confirmed that the return of the franchise not only seems possible, but inevitable.

Here's what Silver had to say in an interview with Collider while promoting his upcoming film, The Nice Guys:

“It looks like it could happen this fall. Downey said he wants to do it. He’s gotta launch into another Avengers movie, right after the New Year, so we »

'Purge: Election Year' Trailer 2: Purge to Keep America Great!

The Purge is one of those franchises that manages to rest heavily on its amazing premise. The first two films weren't great in execution, but where they failed in execution, they certainly have made up for in world building. Simply put, a dystopian world as shown in these films is infinitely intriguing, and as such, I find myself coming back to these films more excited than the last, despite being underwhelmed each time.

This year's The Purge: Election Year continues with the mythology established in The Purge: Anarchy, following a senator whose goal it is to get rid of the Purge altogether. Needless to say, this puts quite a target on her back come Purge night.

The first trailer was very story-centric, but this time around, it looks like the studio has opted to focus on the creepy atmosphere and violent set pieces.

Will John Boyega Be Part Of The Stellar Cast of Marvel's 'Black Panther'?

Update:

According to Devin Faraci, of Birth Movies Death, Boyega is not circling a role in Black Panther. Faraci said he checked with three independence sources, and none could give credence to this rumor.

Original Story:

There's a new rumor sweeping across the web, and it's one that sounds like it makes a fair bit of sense. Yet it's also something that's only backed up by small bits of circumstantial evidence so, until it's confirmed, just tuck this one away in your back pocket.

The cast of Marvel's Black Panther has been getting a lot of attention lately. Whether it be because Michael B. Jordan has signed on, or the fact that some feel Chadwick Boseman stole the show in Captain America: Civil War, the fact that the cast will be comprised almost entirely of black actors, or Marvel honcho Kevin Feige's assertion that Black Panther will have one »

The Crazy Nsfw Suggestion Ayer Gave Delevingne To Prepare For 'Suicide Squad'

Since its inception, Suicide Squad has screamed of subversiveness. From the premise- which pits a deranged pack of DC villains together on a suicide mission- to some of the casting choices, from the wild stories of Jared Leto letting his freak flag fly to prepare for Joker, and right down to the hiring of David Ayer- who isn't exactly known for making safe Hollywood fare- we've known that Suicide Squad wasn't going to be, in anyway, paint-by-numbers.

Now comes another behind-the-scenes tale from the making of the next film in the Dceu...

According to Cara Delevingne, who plays Enchantress in the film, she was given some rather peculiar advice by her director upon getting the part. The director, best known for writing and/or directing films riddled with violence, antiheroes, and complex characters having to make tough decisions like Training Day, Street Kings, and End Of Watch, didn't have »

Update: Silver Lining In The WB Dceu Shake-Ups? The Rise of Affleck!

18 May 2016 3:34 PM, PDT

Update:

Folks, it has begun.

As stated in the original report, Geoff Johns is stepping in as co-runner of DC Films, and that deserves your attention. Read the original report to find out why I think he deserves your forgiveness for past transgressions, and your patience. For now, Vulture has offered two new nuggets.

Johns was asked about the reports that say that he and Jon Berg are the new leaders of DC Films and will help shape the future of the Dceu after Warner Bros. seemingly lost faith in Zack Snyder following the response to Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. While he didn't want to directly address the reports, he did say, "You can connect the dots," which all but confirms that they're true.

But where things get really promising is when he was asked about where he thinks DC needs to go from here. While Vulture didn't publish the entire quote, »
