In this nature challenge, show us your interpretation of the wonder of life: in plants, animals, birds, insects, spiders, reptiles, or fish, etc. Please, no humans or domestic pets, or birds which have lost their freedom. Macro and close-ups welcome. Size of entry: 1,600 pixels on the longer side. And no, DPR does NOT reduce the sizes of the entries for you. You need to do this yourself BEFORE you enter a challenge. Entrants with oversize photos will not be invited to re-submit them. Ensure the correct size the first time!

Saturday, 23rd April, 2016 – Friday, 29th April, 2016 (GMT)

Processing rules:

SIZE: Longer side of entry, MAXIMUM 1600 pixels. Members who repeatedly submit oversize shots will not be invited to resubmit.
FULL COLOUR only. No black and white, sepia tones or de-saturation in your entry.
NO glaringly obvious HDR or extreme post-processing.
TITLE: Give your entry a title or name, not just a file number.
NO personal watermarks or forms of identification, or personal website reference.

Capture date rules:

No restrictions.

No photos which have won previous DPR challenges, please.
Photos which have been entered in multiple challenges may be disqualified.
Two (2) entries per person allowed, but each entry should be a different subject.
PLEASE vote on other entries, to counteract the sandbaggers.
Entrants who cheat by sandbagging, vote manipulation, vote solicitation or with multiple DPR accounts will be banned from my challenges.

Congratulations, Cassowary, on your well-deserved first place in 'The Wonder of Life' challenge, with your beautiful capture of a tiny hummingbird in full flight. I understand that this is a difficult achievement for many photographers, given the speed these little dynamos move at. Great colours in the bird and the bright flowers, while the blue sky lifts the whole picture.
